Norva Denton

We all know that Chicago Hip Hop is killing it right now from all musical angles.  Well, on the business side of things, we aren’t doing too shabby either.  No I.D. is already making moves in his new post at Def Jam, and now another Chicagoan is stepping up in the label ranks.  Norva Denton, who some of you may know, some of you may not, has been a great resource for RubyHornet and other outlets when it comes to major label artists hitting Chicago.  He’s been putting in work for years here under Universal and Interscope, and last week was named the Regional Director of Artist Development of the Western Region for Def Jam.  That sounds important.

Norva  will be responsible for developing artists at IDJ, including their music, their brand, and their image.  It’s a great step for a great guy, and feels very dope to have another Chicagoan in a position that makes a difference.  Norva told me,  “It feels good for the label to notice all the hard work and time I put in out here in the Midwest and know they could trust me to take things to the next level. Def Jam has always been a staple in my life growing up, so my entire journey has been a dream come true.”

This is definitely another win for the the windy city, and definitely Def Jam.
