The Kid Daytona: The Interlude
November 16, 2010Uncategorized

The Kid Daytona has teamed up with LRG to present The Interlude. What started out as more of a special interest project for Daytona transformed into something much bigger, and yes, deffer. This new LP represents The Kid Daytona's best work. In an interview I did with him on Friday, Daytona told me that it was on this project that he really discovered what he wanted to say musically, and how he wants to present his music. The mission was helped greatly in that all the songs on The Interlude were built off samples from interludes off of some of Daytona's favorite and most influential albums.
Producers such as 6th Sense, 9th Wonder, Bink!, Ted Smooth, and Cook Classics revisit interludes from Common and Kanye West ("My Way Home"), ATCQ "For Moms", Dr. Dre ("The Chronic)" and more, while artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Styles P, and Aloe Blacc guest star.
The LP is free for download below via LRG. Look for my interview with Daytona soon.
Lil' Wayne's First New Verse
November 16, 2010Uncategorized

It was George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic who first asked, 'whatcha gonna do when you get out of jail?' Lil' Wayne's answer would be, throw some parties, record on a jet, catch up on sports, and hop on the "Fire-Flame" remix. It's only right that Wayne's first verse since being released from Rikers Island would come on a track by Baby, a man who has served as Wayne's mentor, father, and label head. It's also only that right that Wayne kills this track. Get it below.
