DJs Speak on Master of The Mix

Master of The Mix

Walking around Chicago, I've seen billboards, and bus advertisements for Smirnoff's "Master of The Mix" competition.  To be honest, my first thought was that it was going to be kind of corny.  My second thought was, 'why is DJ Revolution, Rich Medina, and DJ Scratch participating in a corny Smirnoff competition.'  Well, my second thought has been answered, as the DJs all gathered at a junket event and talked about putting their reputations on the line and participating in the reality TV DJ competition.  Master of The Mix is also hosted by Just Blaze, adding credibility to everything.  Blaze talks about having to judge some of his influences, Scratch talks about participating in the show as a form of education, Rich Medina isn't afraid of anyone, and DJ Rap says there will be no Snooki cameos.

Props to The Urban Daily.

Kid Cudi Live At Bape Store

Cudi

Kid Cudi spent the release day of his sophomore album in NYC, appearing at The Bape Store.  The streets of Soho were packed with Mr. Rager fans, as Cudi performed on a mobile stage.  Bongo Boy was on the streets to capture the performance, as well as some words from Joe La Puma of Complex, who wrote the Cudi cover story.  See the video below.  Tonight Cudi will be at RSVP Gallery for an in-store.

Nardwuar vs. Yelawolf

Yelawolf

Yelawolf links up with my favorite North of the border interviewer, Nardwuar.  He brings out his usual heavy artillery of objects that relate back to the artist and curate the interview.  In Yelawolf's case, Nardwuar brings out a Millie Jackson record, Parental Advisory 12 inch, Michael Landen stuff, and more.  See it below.

Vonnegutt: "Going Home"

Vonnegutt

We have had the pleasure of doing a couple Chicago shows with Vonnegutt as well as bringing them into a Closed Session with Mic Terror.  The Georgia based band is gearing up to release their new mixtape, Free99.  It will feature Big Boi (who also signed the band to his Purple Ribbon label) as well as Tony Williams, Aleon Craft, and others.  The first drop is "Going Home", which is full of all kinds of debauchery.  Grab it below.

Cee-Lo: "Bright Lights, Bigger City" video

Cee-Lo

Damn, they stole Cee-Lo's briefcase full of Remy Martin.  That is the long and short of it in Mr. Green's new video for "Bright Lights, Bigger City" off the newly minted Cee-Lo Green The Lady Killer.  The song is dance floor ready, and the video is something out of James Bond.  If you do the math 2 plus 2 definitely equals 4.  Check out the Pitchfork premiere below.

Mikkey Halsted: "Dope Boy City" (prod. by No ID)

Mikkey Halsted

"Dancing with pigs trying to bring home the bacon..."

Mikkey Halsted sent this over last night, and it is something from the cutting room floor of his forthcoming LP, The Darkroom.  It is also the last Mikkey x No ID joint we will get before the new LP drops, so visit "Dope Boy City" by downloading the track below... It's got a "Purple Pills" feel to me, you decide for yourself.

A few months back I did a photo shoot with my good homie Nina Feliciano, called the Night Porter, we had shot a second look that day. This here is the second look from that shoot (which we actually shot first). Nina handled styling/make-up, Neina Drake took care of hair, Sanja as the model and myself behind the lens. Check out the rest of the shoot below.
