The Perfect Formula: "Higher"

Marion Write

The Perfect Formula consists of RubyHornet alum, Marion Write alongside his producer/DJ, DJ Finyl.  Somehow the duo snuck a full EP passed me, and with its August 16th release date right around the corner they give us "Higher", which also features fellow Flo Deep recording artist, Nique.  "Higher" is a soulful tune that when paired with the right listening accessories lives up perfectly up to the title.  Grab it below.

Lupe: "Go To Sleep" [Snippet] and Possible Album Name Change

Lupe posted this snippet last night. It sounds great as Lupe's relaxed flow is perfect with the slow piano driven instrumental. With Lupe, the lyrics are always expected to be top notch and this track is no exception.

"But I'm warming up, oceans is on the rise/ I be Ocean with eleven associates on my side."

The track info listed Food & Liquor II instead of Lasers. I'm not sure how to take this now but we'll keep you posted (pun). Check out the track below.

Kardi: Joke (Prod. By Dru Classic)

http://rubyhornet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/kardi.jpg

I have been on Kardi for a short while now. If you aren't familiar with the name he is an up and comer from NYC who is one of the greatest young people I have heard music from out there, yeah he is just going into college. In this track, just as it is titled Joke, Kardi goes after other whack rappers who are coming out of the woodworks and sets them straight. I am one to say we don't need any more of these Jokes to come out and just flood the music industry for everyone else.

Young Jeezy: I Do Feat. Andre 3000 (Snippet)

http://rubyhornet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/dre.jpg

A tagged up Andre verse came out earlier and the internets went wild. It then came to the light that the verse was in fact a verse that Andre has upcoming alongside Young Jeezy. Then shortly after a tagless version of the Andre verse came out, a snippet of the Intro with Young Jeezy showed itself and then we could put two and two together. I am extremely excited to hear this track in its entirety and it is so good to have Andre showing up more and more. I really want that solo album.

YC The Cynic: "Fall FWD"

http://rubyhornet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fall_fwd.jpg

“Recently, I rocked at a show at SOBs to celebrate Big K.R.I.T. signing to Def Jam. While I was performing, one of the underground’s favorite darlings to hate was hard at work on twitter talking mess, calling the show #Niggafest2000, and getting at me a little bit in the process. Needless to say, my brethren online rose to the occasion and were quick to defend, and she ended up getting put in her place. That inspired this joint right here. So to all the would-be detractors, FALL FWD! Shouts to 2 Hungry Bros, Liz Allen, Conscious and of course, Baxter P. Wordsworth. Peace.” – YC

I was at YC's show at SOB's and I have to say the kid killed it. His on stage prescence is just like hitting play on your iTunes but even better because you are right there. In the anticipation of his upcoming project The Spectacle he used the situation above as inspiration to rip apart this track and give a little warning to those out there. The closer we get to that project the larger YC gets and the more amazing comparisons come out, being mentioned in the same sentence as those like Mos Def and Pharoahe Monch.
