Hate Only Breeds Hate: Why Beanie Sigel Stays Losing

Beanie Sigel

Yesterday a video leaked of Beanie Sigel venting about Jay-Z and Roc-a-Fella records.   Bean's anger directed towards Jay-Z is beyond music, and centers on Sigel's feelings that Jay let him down, dishonored their friendship.   It's out of my realm to comment on that.   I've never been in legal problems to the extent of Sigel, nor had my freedom taken away.   So, all the venom spewed in the video at Jay-Z may or may not be justified.   What I reference in my title is just the fact that Beans only seems to be on any website, newspaper, magazine etc because of negativity.   The recent viral videos has amassed over 60,000 views simply because a down and out emcee speaks ill against possibly the greatest rapper in Hip Hop right now and then attacks Hip Hop's most promising star, Drake.   The Drake diss comes out of nowhere, and again, will bring nothing positive to anybody.   Sigel won't see any boost in sales of his music because there are none.   Drake's not going to say s**t back because he's too busy touring late night talk shows, and he's smart enough to realize he has nothing to gain by going against the Broad Street Bully.   But that's what a bully does, and that's why the bullys never win.

I enjoy some of Sigel's music, and honestly hope things work out for him.   But as the Beatles say "If you go around talking about minds that hate, you're not going to make it with anyone anyway... But you know it's going to be alright..."   Let's hope the last part works out for Sigel.   See the video I'm talking about below.

The Dead Weather: "Blue Blood Blues" Video

Dead Weather

The Dead Weather released a new video today off their Sea of Cowards LP, which is sadly stuck in the middle of albums I have to review but haven't gotten to yet.   For "Blue Blood Blues", the Dead Weather went a studio recording route, and f**ked around with the contrast for interesting results.   The video debuted on Conan O'Brien's site and in return for the premiere, Conan may barter some Ruben Studdard jokes.   See it below.

Rakaa

Rakaa's left coast monster posse cut hits the web featuring Evidence (his Dilated partner in crime), Defari, and Fashawn.   Alchemist produced the song, and it will appear on Crown of Thorns, the long-awaited solo debut that drops July 20th via Decon.   Dilated Peoples will forever be one of my favorite Hip Hop groups, and I'm excited to finally get my hands on this record.   Download "Aces High" below.

Who Wants Free Studio Time At SoundScape?

Bun B and Mike

SoundScape Studios has gone from the back room of a starter and alternator rebuilding factory to a pimpish new studio on Chicago avenue.   Stops in between include a more than stellar stint on Wabash, and a weeklong blur at a mansion in Texas.   Today marks the 9 year anniversary of SoundScape Studios, one of Chicago's true musical treasures, and it deserves to be celebrated.

Since we began working with Mike he has greatly helped RubyHornet build relationships in Chicago's Hip Hop scene, and has become a friend, mentor, and business partner.   To honor SoundScape's past and continue to build it's future, we are running a contest in which the winner will receive 2 hours of studio time in SoundScape's "A" Room with Michael Kolar running the session.

To win you must be the 30th person to wish SoundScape happy anniversary via Twiiter, by tweeting to @SoundScapeChi and @RubyHornet.

Example: "Happy Anniversary @SoundScapeChi! @RubyHornet....."

You must also be a follower of Soundscape's twitter account.

It's as simple as that. Good luck!
