Sofia Maldonado: Beauty In Naughtiness

Sofia Maldonado is used to receiving praise and attention for her art, but nothing quite like what's happened in response to her mural prominently displayed in Times Square. The mural, which Maldonado describes as an "opened a line of discussion that America needed," has come under protest for the way she represents Latino and African-American women.
"It is a new feeling," Maldonado says about how public reaction to the mural is affecting her. "[B]ut definitely a lovely thing that has made me grow internally as a human and artist." Currently out on tour, we linked up with Maldonado to find out more about this inspiring and influential artist.
Read on to get to know Sofia Maldonado in this new RubyHornet exclusive interview where she talks about the inspiration behind the buzzing 42nd St. mural, growing up in Puerto Rico, her Cuban heritage and what's on her iPod.

Theophilus London: "No Answers" featuring Jesse Boykins
You know you've got a buzz when RCRDLBL is offering your tracks as the download of the day. They do such for the buzz-worthy Theophilus London and his track "No Answers" featuring another e-buzzer, Jesse Boykins. For some reason I always think of the basketball player Earl Boykins when I see Jesse's name. I don't know why that is. I guess I have "No Answers".
If you like this one, you can also download Theo's latest mixtape, I Want You, right here.

This feels like a hit record in the old classic sense of "a hit record". I hope that makes sense to everyone else... Drake leans more on the 808's Kanye for "Find Your Love" a sans rap track that will appear on his debut album, Thank You Later (in stores June 15th). If they were going to do a video for this it should feature Drake opening different cabinets and stuff, walking around an empty house, and other various spots always looking for "your loving/your heart", which can be depicted by different inside jokes and symbols. I'm telling you, that's good stuff right there.

Lupe Fiasco: "I'm Beaming"Video
Lupe went the less is more route with "I'm Beaming", using little kids and sign language (literally signs) he furthers the song's "look at me now" theme. This is a very solid video, the first time I saw it I did think it could've been better, or at least I expected a larger scale video. See it for yourself below.
