“Hear me Alabama, I was never meant to carry no shame.”
I was drawn to Phosphorescent’s music from the titles of his songs i.e.: “It’s Hard To Be Humble (When You’re Alabama)” and “Reasons To Quit (There Are No Reasons When You’re High)” off the folk-rocker’s equally cleverly titled LP, Here’s To Taking It Easy. Sonically, “Alabama” reminds me a little bit of Jimmy Buffet, while lyrically artists such as Paul Simon come to mind, those that have a way of just talking to you through the record.
