Chicago-based band Passerines have had an eventful year. The indie rock outfit, led by frontman/artistic leader Timothy Young, Passerines create music that is sonically beautiful and uniquely unafraid to test and experiment with every chord and note. It’s some parts Dirty Projectors, with the genuinely creative guitar and Thom Yorke, as they foray into electronic production as well. The summer saw them work out several artistic directions before settling on one, working horns into the mix and finding where exactly the sound fit. Young is a quiet, careful artist, wholly invested in his craft and it comes through in the music he produces. Currently working on their upcoming album Romancer, Young and co. shot a video of a live performance of the first single off the project, “Jo”. Check out the video, shot by Jack Mayer, below and catch Passerines live this weekend at the Elastic Arts Foundation October 26th with with neo-classical/chamber pop groups, the Happy Maladies, and Baby Cleo.
