Dr. Wax

Dr. Wax, a staple of Hyde Park and Chicago music will close it’s doors for good on February 15th.  The record store first opened in 1988, and was the place to go for music, big and small, rare and common, and uh, Common.  I’ve written before about my own childhood expeditions to Dr. Wax, and it played a large role in who I am today.  I don’t think I would be sitting here, at the RH office, writing about Dr. Wax’s closing or interviewing any artists if it wasn’t for the education and experience I got each and every Saturday (and most days after school).  There is a closing concert being setup and I’ll keep you updated, but this is truly a sad day for Chicago music.

R.I.P. Dr. Wax… You will be missed!
