“When a child only has one wish, ‘can you perform?’ He better DJ my show.”
Rhymefest was telling me about this video last week in which Rob Bates was forced to DJ Rhymefest’s set at his own Make A Wish Benefit show. Story goes that Chicago-producer Rob Bates made a wish through the Make A Wish Foundation for Rhymefest to perform at a benefit concert for his friends and family who supported him throughout cancer treatment. Fest agreed to do the gig and everything was cool until he realized that he had no DJ. He made lemonade by asking Rob to DJ and everything worked out well.
See it all in this really well-done video by an “unknown camerman“.
In other Rhymefest news, I finished the Rhymefest’s new pre-LP mixtape, Dangerous 5:18 and it is serious. Look for a making of the mixtape piece coming soon.
