Practice makes pretty damn good. Perfects don’t get thrown around lightly.
Matthew McMullen has been honing his skills for a while. He started rapping at the age of 5 and his first LP, Lazy Boy Syndrome, dropped earlier this year. This LP somehow made it onto my computer but I never really got around to listening to it. Thanks to DJBooth, my eyes have been opened to this talented up-and-comer. He sings and he also has an eclectic taste in music and influences. Steve Liriks loves his samples, giving the LP’s tracks a wide variety of sounds.
I know this material isn’t brand new but it’s good and I can’t keep it from you. Download the LP below and/or check out a track to give you an idea of what to expect.

Listen to “Fix You” here
“Fix You” is Steve’s attempt at gaining the trust of a girl who presumably has been hurt in the past. Jobe produced the smooth track and sampled Telepopmusik’s “Breathe”. I chose this track because it showcases Steve Lirik’s versatility as he alternates between singing and rapping throughout.
