[Video] Alex Wiley: "Earfucked"

June 4th is coming up soon, and with that, Alex Wiley's debut Club Wiley with our homies, Closed Sessions. With hip hop circles amped for the mixtape drop, Wiley and released the video for "Earfucked" today. Directed by ENDOCOLOR, the video features the rapper engulfed in a smoke-filled room, Super Soakers filled with 40s, car donuts in an empty parking lot, shenanigans in a baseball field, and paintballs shot at statue busts.

You can check the video out for "Earfucked" below. Closed Sessions and Alex Wiley also created a 3D flash viewer of the Club Wiley package, complete with the front and back covers, inside flap, and CD, which was a cool touch to enhance the mixtape's release. Reminder: Club Wiley drops on June 4th with the release party happening on June 6th. Details for the party are here.

Alex Wiley: "Icky Woods" (feat. Action Bronson)

First off, let me tell you that anybody who references Icky Woods or the infamous "Icky Shuffle" wins me over almost immediately. It doesn't hurt that the two emcees in this record happen to rap really good too and to top it all off, the instrumental was produced by Thelonious Martin. This is a can't-lose situation. Stream this fire below and stay tune the #ClubWiley takeover in the month of May as he'll be unleashing new singles and videos through Closed Sessions, leading up to the project's release.

[Interview] RH First Look: Alex Wiley

Alex Wiley

Alex Wiley has been working hard lately. The Southside MC has been busy for the better part of 2012 garnering followers through a steady flow of videos and songs online and collaborations with Kembe X and a host of other Chicago artists. Wiley is now looking to drop his own solo project, one that has gone through several changes throughout the last few months.  What originally started as an EP under the name Village Up, has transformed several times during endless recording at SoundScape Studios, where I recent met and spoke with the budding emcee. To be sure, Wiley was due for a nap. Luckily, I was able to catch him just before he curled up on the couch, exhausted from a long day.

That Wiley sleeps at all may be the most surprising thing. The high-energy emcee can be found around town rapping in a Santa suit like he did onstage at Chance The Rapper's AcidRap Live show at The Metro November 23, or chopping up philosophies on the intricacies of the perfect taco bar, which he has plans to unveil somewhere in the near future. A glance at Wiley's robust Twitter feed could make anyone wonder if the kid sleeps at all. Since releasing #MoPurp with Chance and Kembe earlier this year, a video for which has garnered over 75,000 YouTube views in just under six months, Wiley has set about making his mark on the Chicago scene and beyond and is nearing the release of his debut project, Club Wiley, which has spanned almost a full year of his progression and is set to drop early 2013 via the indie label, Closed Sessions.

Also, if you're in Chicago, catch an early sampling of Wiley's forthcoming debut, ClubWiley, on January 5th at Jugrnaut at 427 S. Dearborn from 6-8 PM.

[RH TV] Freestyle In The Park: The New Class

Last month we hosted a special edition of Digital Freshness featuring only local talent under the age of 21.  The purpose was to showcase the new crop of Chicago artists, and give them a chance to prove themselves in front of a live audience.  The show was great, with everyone putting on a strong performance. Before the show we got all the participating emcees together for a little cipher, which goes back to our Freestyle In The Park days.  Check out the video below featuring Caleb James, Kembe X, Alex Wiley, Calez, Legit, St. Millie, and Chance The Rapper.

The video was shot by Elijah Alvarado and edited by Andrew Zeiter.  Special thanks to Jugrnaut and SoundScape for hosting Digital Freshness with us.
