[EP] IKAZ: "Trill"

Here are some dope tunes from across the pond as French producer IKAZ compiles eight new records and unleashes into the masses. The concept behind "Trill" is the path of someone who becomes true to himself and does so through many experiences and influences. A lot of beautiful vocals are present throughout the 'tape and I really recommend you giving it a listen.

[Mixtape] Von Vuai: "STANK"

As a 21st birthday present for the rest of us, Chicago producer released his collection of beats, STANK. Mostly known as the producer for St. Millie's debut, No Religion But Up, the Chvrch crew member has also produced for Rockie Fresh, D-Win, Phlyy B (who is featured on this drop), and has future collaborations with both ShowYouSuck and Netherfriends.

First hinted at during Sean CK's interview with Von Vuai back in February, STANK takes samples from a number of other songs and movie clips, resulting in a a spacey sound that isn't really the "typical" sound found in hip hop. Personally, this is the kind of sound I wish was more prevalent in the genre. "RADIANT" stands out exactly for this reason, but also because it's sampling a song that I've, at the time of this writing, spent the past hour trying to figure out where it's from. (It's Frank Ocean's "Pyramids," which is ironically the only song I've listened to outside of two specific bands this week. What are the odds?)

Rappers: I'm looking forward to what you can do over these STANK beats. Make me and Von proud.

Charmingly Ghetto: "Sleepy People" (prod. by ATG)

There hasn't been a single cut released this year by Charmingly Ghetto, which I haven't loved. I believe the Boston homie has truly found his sound and is carving his own lane with every song he puts out. Yesterday we got yet another strong leak from CG in "Sleepy People", which will call the upcoming Of the Meaning of Progress project home. Check out the dope animated lyric video below and download here.

[Video] #100Trill X ElevenHundred interview

#100Trill (MikeJaxx and Grade Aplus) were recently interviewed by ElevenHundred for their upcoming documentary. Shot inside Jugrnaut, the mini-interview goes into a bit behind the mindset of the LOD members, including their adoption of the trill lifestyle, as well as a question I personally have wondered myself: "What's up with that gold piece, Jaxx?" The interview is set to #100Trill's "Chain Clean," which was a nice touch. Expect to hear more from the group... hopefully really soon.

[Mixtape] Nico Segal: "Donnie Trumpet"

Nico Segal's, Illasoul, is a 'tape that I still bump to this day and that has a lot to do with the many subjects talked about in that project and Nico's ability to sway the listener with beautiful melodies. The trumpeter is now back with "Donnie Trumpet", a 'tape that distances itself a little from spoken word and focuses on the vibes and synergy between Nico and collaborators Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Kiara Lanier & Emilio Chestevez while expanding on new concepts and themes.

Chance The Rapper

[Video] Chance The Rapper Freestyle on Toca Tuesdays

Chance The Rapper was in New York all of last week promoting Acid Rap, his upcoming tour opening for Mac Miller and also getting ready to perform his first ever headlining show at NY. Chano hit up various music stations, including Shade 45, in which he stopped by Toca Tuesdays studio to meet DJ Tony Touch and spit a four minute freestyle which you can see below.

Vic Mensa: "Hollywood LA" (feat. Lili K)

If you follow Vic Mensa in Twitter and/or Instagram, you're probably aware that the Chicago emcee has been chilling in Los Angeles quite frequently these past few months as he's wrapping up the highly-anticipated INNANETAPE. Clearly influenced by the smooth vibes Cali provides, Vic recorded "Hollywood LA", the latest leak from the 'tape featuring vocal-assistance by Lili K on the hook. Check it out below.

Leather Corduroys (Kami de Chukwu & Joey Purps): "Prophet" (feat. The Mind)

SaveMoney's Kami de Chukwu & Joey Purps have formed a new duo called Leather Corduroys and wack rappers better be afraid, because these two are not holding back and attacking the mic with vicious rhymes. They have already proven just how reckless they can get when they rap on the same track in “Illuminati Slumber Party”, but now they're back with "Prophet" which holds a more laid-back vibe courtesy of THEMpeople.
