[LP] Del The Funky Homosapien: "Iller Than Most"
Del The Funky Homosapien has been making a resurgence of sorts over the past year. With his Deltron 3030 release, Event 2, and a tour that featured a 16 piece orchestra, complete with conductor, Del decided to roll things over into the new year with a spontaneous online release, Iller Than Most. Of the eleven song project, dropped at midnight yesterday, Del had this to say: "Lyrically ill but fun to listen to, nothing super heavy. I did the production on it as well." It's easy to tell he took care of the production, with a familiar funk-ified, otherworldly aesthetic that oozes Del through and through, and which is especially pronounced on the opening track when he chants "Take me to your leader!" [Video] Black Milk: "Sunday's Best/Monday's Worst"
Black Milk is back, and he's carrying some weight with his latest release, a video for two songs off his upcoming No Poison, No Paradise album. "Sunday's Best/Monday's Worst" is a two part cinematic visual that details one young boy's path from church pews to gunshots as he bridges the first two singles with the single video. No Poison, No Paradise follows 2010's instrumentally-charged Album of the Year and features the likes of Black Thought, Robert Glasper and Dwele. The project is due out October 15.
[Album] Danny Brown: "Old"
At long last, it is here. The latest from Detroit native Danny Brown, Old, is finally available to the public after a drawn out squabble between him and his label, Fool's Gold. The first major release for Brown since 2011's free album XXX was chosen as SPIN's best hip hop album of the year almost wasn't, needing a threatening push from Brown weeks ago to get a solid release date. But alas, it arrived nonetheless and is available here below for a stream via Spotify. Check it out and let us know what you think.
