Review: Big Sean's "I Decided" Album Solidifies His Spot

Off Top, I'm a Big Sean fan. I've been waiting for a new project from the guy I call "The 1A Emcee of this era". The "I Decided" album is here and I'm glad Sean took his time with this one.

I Decided is not the always working and bragging on his girl, Sean. This is the deep thought and caring evolution of Sean Anderson. With the expansion of the subject matter he doesn't slack on the bars. All the above makes this album a must listen.

Even though I didn't know what to expect. I been waiting for a Big Sean and Eminem track. We finally get that with No Favors. Eminem is in a class of his own lyrically. Sean did right by just letting him do whatever and you already know you have to play this a few times to catch every bar crafted. Spoiler Alert. Ann Coulter gets Marshall Mathers LP level venom on this song.

Light is a great way to kick off the album. Moves is my favorite joint on the album and Sean's flow on Voices In My Head/Stick To The Plan is crazy!

Inspire Me is an ode to Big Sean's mother. It's refreshing content to hear at a time where the Black Woman is tired of being the most disrespected being on the planet. Especially, in the majority of rap songs.

To my Surprise, Sacrifices with the Migos was very underwhelming. I really expected much more from this combination, but maybe it will grow on me.

I Decided is Big Sean at his artistic best. He hasn't lost a step since we first heard him. He's grown as an artist and as a man and he doesn't mind sharing his journey with the world. With I Decided, Big Sean has solidified why his name should be in "who runs rap" conversations.

In Close, I'm not really sure why Big Sean has to fight for so much "rap respect" in this era. Every 2 years he delivers something worth our ears. He's literally one of the few transparent, talented consistencies in the game. Hit Singles, Street Anthems, Self Crafted Bars that stand up with the greats and the rising stars. That's what y'all ask for right?

I decided Big Sean is one of the best doing it. Salute to Sean Don for dropping another dope album. Listen to the album here.

Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar

GOOD Monday Kanye releases No More Parties in L.A

The music Gods have been great to us this year so far. We got a sample of Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar new record last week when he dropped Real Friends. This morning Ye tweeted "Its Up" speaking about the new record "No More Parties in L.A".

[Video] Kanye West Appears on 'Late Night with Seth Myers'

Kanye West, with his Yeezus tour finally over and some time on his hands, decided to stop by Seth Myers' new show and help him continue to break into the late night circuit by stopping by to chat about the extravagant tour, get some baby news out of the way and clear the stage for the real show, which came after the brief back and forth between the husband of Kim Kardashian and the former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member who took over for Jimmy Fallon in the late night spot after the Jay Leno domino finally fell, opening the lines of succession. Kanye performed what became a career-spanning set that touched on his hits from the entirety of his catalogue, begininning with "Jesus Walks", "Touch The Sky" and "Stronger" before making his way through the dark 808s & Heartbreaks days, even live auto-tuning "Heartless" and continuing on to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and beyond, wrapping things up with a rousing rendition of "Black Skinhead" to wrap things up. [Video] Big Sean: "Ashley"

Big Sean has a well-d0cumented love affair with his current beau, Glee star Naya Rivera, whom he is currently engaged to be married. But, before Naya, there was Ashley. Allegedly the name of his former longtime girlfriend back in his hometown of Detroit, the song and the video detail a love lost, a relationship gone, a tell-tale heart of a track that examines feelings still held for another. Featuring Miguel and shot by directorial outfit Verluxe, both the visual and audio components of the working comes together flawlessly to create a world Sean seemingly existed in before meeting the current woman of his dream. [Video] Busta Rhymes: "Thank You" (Ft. Lil Wayne, Q-Tip & Kanye West)

Busta Rhymes has been making a comeback of sorts since signing with YMCMB last year, and today dropped the video for his star-studded, feature-heavy track, "Thank You" featuring Busta's former, A Tribe Called Quest collaborator, Q-Tip as well as Kanye West and his boss, Lil Wayne. The video, directed by Director X, shows Busta doing his thing with some ladies and has cameos from the likes of A$AP Ferg, Fashawn and Mack Wilds. You can find "Thank You" on Busta's expected 2014 release, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2. For those who can't wait that long, you may be in luck. There have been rumors of a Busta Rhymes/Q-Tip collaboration by the name of The Abstract & The Dragon, expected December 12.

[Video] Ariana Grande: "Right There" (Feat. Big Sean)

There's a lot of production value going into music videos these days. After hedging the dip that happened with the proliferation of Canon cameras and easy editing software, the game seems to be back with a slew of long-form, thoughtfully crafted storylines such as this visual for Ariana Grande's track "Right There" featuring Big Sean. The video is a play on Romeo & Juliet, with Grande taking the lead role and Big Sean filling in as the Priest. It shows a depth of both song and performance and is definitely worth a look. Check it out here below.

[Sunday Coffee Sipper] Kanye, Kimmel & Fame

Last Wednesday Kanye West made an appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel to address the feud between the artist and talk show host that rose from a skit with children impersonating West's replies to questions in a BBC interview with Zane Lowe.

The interaction was farm from what most fans who followed the back and forth between the pair would have expected, especially after West's personal-attack laden Twitter rant in which he repeatedly questioned Kimmel's ability to pull good looking women. Instead, the two had an interesting talk about the status of being a celebrity in today's 24-hour news cycle, shedding light further not only on how West views himself, but also on what it's like being among the biggest stars in the country and just wanting some privacy.

In the interview, West likened being a celebrity in America to being an "animal in a zoo," fodder for people to stop, point and stare and then move on to the next exhibit. It's certainly true that the pedestal on which many celebrities are placed on have a string attached, the expectation to entertain at all times. To be sure, West, arguably the biggest music artist in the world, lives his life squarely in the public eye. Marrying Kim Kardashian and popping up on episodes of her family's disdainful reality series isn't exactly subtle or private. Regardless, it shouldn't be a chore or an event for these stars to be able to live their lives.

The conversation soon segued to Kanye's personality, with Kimmel and West reminiscing on a recent wedding for a friend of Kimmel's that both attended. Eventually, Kanye was Kanye and announced that he was, in fact, a genius, explaining his reasoning behind the world and somewhat chastising the public for reacting in a negative way to his declaration of artistic prowess. Not the most surprising thing from an artist who released an album named *Yeezus* with a song named "I Am a God", it makes sense that if he truly believes himself as such, and is seemingly told it is true regularly, that he should be allowed to express that sentiment. Kimmel, for his part, credited Kanye as someone he sees as being a genuinely good person, but also conceded that West may bring it on himself a bit. This is true. There have been few stars bigger than West who have spoken with such a loud and seemingly honest voice in the pop culture lexicon.

One weird point of the interview was West describing his love of "cool things" on the heels of a statement about making people's lives easier. Mentioning that he spent his first two telemarketing checks on a pair of Gucci slippers, West alluded to helping the world by making these cool things more readily available. The Internet seems to be doing a good job of that, not to mention the fact that the city West is from, Chicago, faces myriad problems that could use some fixing.

Kanye West is a lot of things, but one thing he will always be good for is a little bit of controversy. With no one to stir the pot, there is little chance of forward movement. Kanye is the wood spoon, occasionally swooping in to mix things up, add a wrinkle to what's happening, in turn keeping things fresh as he continues to push what exactly that is. During their talk, 'Ye said himself, "I'm not running for office, I'm here to make good music and make people feel good when they hear my music." This is true. West shouldn't necessarily be held to a higher standard because of what he does, or his positioning in society. At the end of the day he is simply an honest, multi-layered human being with a larger-than-life stage from which to spout his thoughts. West wrapped the talk perfectly, saying "You're gonna love me, or you're gonna hate me, but I'm going to be me." Indeed Kanye, indeed.

[Video] Pusha T: "Nosetalgia" (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

My Name is My Name is almost here. As if anticipation couldn't get any higher for Pusha T's G.O.O.D. Music release, last night he dropped the video for his single "Nosetalgia" with Kendrick Lamar. The video is dark and a bit grainy, all the better to focus on the bars being offered by two of the best MCs in the game right now. My Name is My Name drops October 8.
