Angel Olsen: "Hi-Five"

Angel Olsen lures you in with her devastatingly lovely voice on "Hi-Five," the second single from her upcoming  album Burn Your Fire for No Witness, due out February 18th via Jagjaguwar.  Burn Your Fire has already received rave reviews, praising Olsen's talent for song-writing and already naming the album to be a favorite for 2014.

"Hi-Five" takes on a twangy country vibe with Olsen's warbling vocals, straight-froward strumming guitar, and simple beats. Olsen doesn't stray from her usual themes of longing and sadness but takes a sarcastic spin on this track singing, "Are you lonely too? High five, so am I." Listen to the track and check out her upcoming tour dates!

Owls: "I'm Surprised"

From the ashes of Cap'n Jazz's break-up in 1995 rose the Chicago band, Owls, from 2001-2002. Consisting of Cap'n Jazz members Tim Kinsella, Mike Kinsella, Sam Zurick, and Victor Villareal (Davey von Bohlen was pre-occupied with The Promise Ring), the band picked up where Cap'n Jazz left off with their patented math rock-inspired brand of emo/post-hardcore. After the release of their self-titled album in 2001, Owls broke up, only to reunite in 2012.

Earlier this week, Owls announced their plans to release another LP, Two, this March. Along with the project's announcement was their first single, "I'm Surprised," which you can listen to below. The Cap'n Jazz tree of musicians is still going strong after all of these years, with Tim Kinsella active with Joan of Arc, and his collaboration with Leroy Bach and Marvin Tate, Mike Kinsella with Joan of Arc, Owen, and Their/They're/There, Victor Villareal with his solo music and Joan of Arc, and Sam Zurick with Joan of Arc.

With Owls active once again, maybe Davey could find some free time and join the guys for a second, short Cap'n Jazz reunion run. If only, if only...

[Video] King Krule: "A Lizard State"

King Krule is a weird guy. From his voice to his style to the music he makes, everything has a bit of a different feel to it. That sensibility is on display in his latest visual, this one for his track, "A Lizard State" from his latest project, 6 Feet Beneath The Moon, which made waves when it dropped late last summer. The video opens with a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Muder, with Hitchcock walking sideways on a wall, explaining that the following story is about "An undertaker and who he undertakes" before cutting to a phone and a growl from King Krule, who then jumps into the somewhat haunting, 60s-inspired song. The whole video has a bit of film noir to it with dark shots and shadows throughout.

According to Director Jamie-James Medina: "Archy and I both love Hitchcock and we've spent a lot of time away from music talking about his films. When I heard the phone ringing over the intro all I could think about was Dial M For Murder and the scene where Grace Kelly answers the phone. That really started the conversation. I had this idea of Hitchcock introducing King Krule. I've seen every episode of Hitchcock Presents and every introduction that he gives is brilliant - you could use any episode and it would work. We loved the idea of Archy defying gravity and that being the setting for his performance. But right up until shooting we didn't know if we'd get permission to use the Hitchcock footage - to have him appear. Its such an honor that the Hitchcock estate gave us the opportunity. And then at the very end he said, 'and the room is full of lizards', so we had to find a set of lizards and managed to get a guy who entertains at children's parties."

Check out the latest from Krule below and catch him live on tour now.

The Tontons: "Magic Hour"

As we ease our way into the new year, one of the more exciting acts on the cusp is Houston-based foursome, The Tontons, who released their latest single, "Magic Hour" on Rolling Stone. The group enjoyed considerable success in 2013, releasing their debut video, "Veida" on The Wall Street Journal's music website and playing Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas, where they opened for Kurt Vile to start the fest and where we caught up with them as well. The group's funky, upbeat vibes can make even sitting inside on a cold snowy day seem pleasant.

Check out the latest from The Tontons by downloading the song on Rolling Stone.

[Video] Autre Ne Veut: "Counting"

Autre Ne Veut is one artist who has to be a little upset 2013 is coming to an end. The experimental 31-year-old R&B artist certainly got his shine this year, with widespread positive reviews for this year's release, Anxiety, which got the Pitchfork nod for Best New Music and a spot at their annual festival in Chicago and Gorilla vs. Bear named it their "Best Album of the Year, So Far" back in June. Finding himself atop many year-end lists, Ne Veut decided to celebrate by releasing this video for his song "Counting", shot for Yours Truly at the Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. The mixture of the pure beauty of the building, coinciding with the pure, unabashed emotion of Ne Veut, makes for one hell of a visual experience, and one that makes the song more poignant as well. Check out the video below.

Cloud Control Announce North American Tour

Cloud Control will be starting off 2014 stateside. The Australian indie rock band is hitting the road in support of their latest album, Dream Cave, which was written and recorded over three years living and working in their adopted home of Great Britain. Following on the heels of their previously release, Bliss Release, Cloud Control blended experiences of living in the UK for a decidedly more psychedelic-pop aesthetic that has been making noise since hitting public domain. Today the four piece band of Alister Wright, Heidi Lenffer, Ulrich Lenffer and Jeremy Kelshaw released the video for their song "Promises". [Video] Childish Gambino: "3005"

With Childish Gambino's Because The Internet album release date just around the corner, CG keeps his promotional-run going with a rather witty spin on the lyric video format for his single "3005." Featuring Abella Anderson (who also starred in Mr. Glover's Clapping For The Wrong Reasons short-film), the emcee types his lyrics into a live video/chat room while the adult film star responds with emojis and seductive dancing. Because The Internet will hit retail and online stores on December 9th through Glass Note Records.

Alex Wiley

[Video] Alex Wiley: "Own Lane"

One of Chicago's most buzzing artists invites us into a psychedelic world through the visual for "Own Lane," the trippy-like cinematic clip from Alex Wiley. The Village member partnered up with the homies over at Visual Mecca and conceptualized a 3-part music video series that'll feature the one below, "The Woods," and "Suck It Revolution." "Own Lane" was first shown to a select audience as part of a #SpeakEasy event series that will also premiere the other two visuals on November 21st and December 5th. Make sure you stay on the look-out for more information on how to RSVP for these events in the coming weeks.

All songs are from the popular ClubWiley mixtape, which is arguably one of the best 'tapes to come out in 2013. Go download it if you haven't done so already!
