Apple has taken Lumia photography lead, Ari Partinen, off of Nokia’s

Apple Hires Nokia’s Head of Lumia Photography

Apple has been the talk of the town recently because of their rumored acquisition of Beats, and it looks like people will continue to talk with this recent news. As of June 1st, Ari Partinen, lead Nokia PureView engineer, will be leaving Nokia and starting a new position at Apple. The PureView technology has given smartphones like the Lumia 1020 and Nokia PureView 808 outstanding photo taking abilities and carry some of the best photo sensors on smartphones. This looks like a great move for Apple, and it might be a sign that the company will be stepping up its mobile photography game for the next iPhone release. There's no telling what will become of Nokia as far as their phone division is concerned, with Microsoft completing its acquisition, and now one its lead guy has jumped ship. I'm sure we can expect some new things coming from Apple that should excite mobile photographers.

Everybody is on their phone. Thousands of people everyday wear out their thumbs scrolling through photos, deciding which ones to post on Instagram. It’s so easy to do whether you’re a photographer or not; just point, shoot, choose a filter and post whatever you created. From funny duck face selfies, to breathtaking landscapes, to gritty city streets. Some use it as visual journal giving glimpses of their lives, while others have taken it to another level by creating works of art. All of us at Ruby Hornet are fans of the social media platform and decided to do a weekly series highlighting people whose Instagrams stand above the rest. Let us know in the comments section if you’d like to be featured, or let us know about some other cool Instagrams. Be sure to follow Ruby Hornet Instagram, too.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @carissa_burton. There's just something about New York and the environment that provides so many photo opportunities, which is a reason I like this gallery. You get a mix of the nitty gritty of New York, and she also is able to capture its beauty through her lens. I really enjoy this Instagram account for the mix of photos that she takes as she hits the streets of NY. Take a look at a few of her shots, and be sure to head on over to her Instagram for more great photos.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @awnoom. Photographers are not the only ones that use Instagram, as there are many graphic designers that are active users on the platform. That being said, graphic designers are some of my favorite accounts to follow as they mix in photography with their design skill to make some pretty cool creations. You’ll get a range of photos that make for an interesting gallery, so take a look at a sample of awnoom's photos, and hit the follow button for some great imagery.

Take Better Photos From Your Smart Phone With Moment Lenses

There's a quote that goes something like, "the best camera to have is the one you have with you." Now I'm not sure if that is the exact quote but the point that I'm getting at is the camera that we have access to the most and is always with us is on our phone. A phone is easy to travel with and with the technology available today, you're able to create some pretty impressive images. With the rise of mobile photography we have see lenses exclusively made for smart phones to increase the quality of the photos we take. Here is where Moment enters the game; promising quality photos with better lenses than what's available, and an easier way to attach them to our phones. Moment lenses are attached using a thin, case-friendly adhesive metal strip for an attachment point that you can use with or without at case. You can learn more about Moment lenses at their website and make sure to visit their Kickstarter campaign page here.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @luckymaria. I really dig this gallery because of the composition of the various landscape shots that Maria captures. When you take a look at the way each image is framed, you really get a sense of what she sees through her iPhone lens as if you were there. Sure, you'll get some great landscape shots, but you'll see her put some cool twists to them as she shows off her creativity. This account is definitely worth checking out, so take a look at a few of her photos and make sure you hit the follow button for some awesome imagery.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @theuntitled. What I like about this gallery is the composition of all the photos and its subject matter. This Instagrammer captures images that might seem ordinary to some, yet taken in different ways where each picture tells a story. You'll see an array of images, each with its own story and mood, which makes this account definitely worth checking out. This week’s featured Instagram comes from @victoriafletcher7. What draws me to this Instagram gallery are the awesome landscapes that are on the display. Whether it's shots of the beaches overlooking the ocean or the great views from the mountaintops, Victoria's Instagram is a nice break from all the city shots I see. If you want to see some pretty sweet outdoor shots, I suggest you check out a few of her photos and make sure to hit the follow button.
