[Review] The LOX "Filthy America...It's Beautiful"
If you were a fan of hip-hop and where in high school/college in 2000, you've been waiting for the 3rd official LOX album for about half your life. Yeah, we got a good handful of solo albums, a ton of mixtapes and even the Trinity series over the last decade plus, but Filthy America...It's Beautiful proves we still didn't get that follow up to We Are The Streets until now
The LOX aren't "trapped In The 90's ni**as" and they prove that with tracks like "Omen", "Secure The Bag" ft. Gucci Mane and Infa-Red, and "The Agreement" ft. Fetty Wap and Dyce Payne. You hear them testing out the new flows and sounds that the young kids abuse today while still giving you some real lyrics to vibe to.

"What Else You Want To Know" provides all the answers to the stories and situations that the new era is googling to catch up. This is a great history lesson on who The Lox are and why it's never been a game to them.
"Family" is the track that confirms that all of our favorite rap groups just aren't who they say they are, except The LOX. The LOX are one of the only rap groups thats more than a rap group. The game, the money, chicks, nor the or jail time didn't change that. It's great to know that all of their raps were applicable to real life. That, and they took their principles more seriously than their fans and comrades.
"Move Forward" is The LOX with DJ Premier. I mean, what else do you want? I actually like this one more than "Recognize". It just has a refreshing feel and sound right now, even though every element is a "throwback".
"Don't You Cry" and "Filthy America" are vintage LOX music. You've got to love it, man. Songs like these are why you mess with the LOX in the first place.
16 years later and this album somehow feels right on time. This is their reflective "been there, done that, and got successful" LOX album, and it sounds really good. They don't go overboard on the street ish. Rather, they embrace elements of today, and all three of them are still rhyming at an above average level. That's very rare, and much needed. I don't want to be in my 50s for the next Lox album though. Whether you are 18, 28 or any of the ages in between, don't let the ball drop without hearing this album.

DJ Don Juan: "Limitless" Club Mix
Our good friends over at Rotting Television just sent over the the new stream from NY club DJ Don Juan's "Limitless" mix. With the launch of his new website, upcoming TV appearances, and more club dates around the country, Don Juan seems to be gearing up for a hectic 2014. If you're not into club mixes, this might not be for you, but if you are this is right down your alley. Even if you are doing some chores around the house or getting ready before a night out, push play and let it ride.

Colorful Portraits of Motorbike Girl Gangs in Morocco
Photos by Hassan Hajjaj
Morocco is an incredibly vibrant and complex place, and a photographer's dream location to shoot. However, in an age where photography is universal and sometimes intrusive, cities like Marrakech often distrust photographer's, seeing them as pervasive, and are questioned about the use of their captured images.
Knowing all of this makes the following photo series all the more intriguing. London-based, Moroccan photographer Hassan Hajjaj beautifully captured the bike culture of Marrakech in his latest series titled, Kesh Angels, on display now at the Taymour Grahne Gallery in New York until March 8. In this series, Hajjaj uses some female friends to represent "Moroccan girl bike gangs" to show something particular of Marrakech. In each image the girls are captured with strong, intimidating expressions to convey an edge, while sporting polka dot veils, Nike djellabah and even heart-shaped sunnies. To add even more color, he used products found in local markets to create a border for each picture.
Although there are no real bike gangs in Morocco, these girls are no joke. According to the photographer's recent interview with Vice, most of these girls speak up to five languages, and are full-time moms who work ten-hour days. What's even more interesting is that Marrakech is a true bike city, used by most of the locals as a source for transportation to work, and most of the bikes used for this shoot are their very own.

[Mixtape] ABGOHARD & Slater: "Rich Yung Pimp"
Lately, we have been hearing a lot of good coming out of the New York City collective "Inner City Kids" (ICK), and just before the weekend the world got the latest from the group's newest MC in ABGOHARD, who teamed up with Slater for a fresh new project in Rich Yung Pimp. The project is an interesting play between a pair of talented up and coming artists on the rise in a burgeoning east coast/New York City scene. Featuring production from the likes of Suicideyear, $1 Bin, Marlee B, Ryan Hemsworth, Rich Yung Pimps is as eclectic as it's title is stereotypical. The pair of artists are at the forefront of the next wave of New York City hip-hop that has emanated from what many have called a renaissance in the NYC scene. The project is boom-bap-ish, with more developed sensibilities, taking a step forward while keeping another firmly rooted in the sounds that curated the scene on the right side of the country in generations before them. It's a rap project, with both Slater and ABGOHARD handling crafty rhyme schemes with ease while ruminating over the ins and outs of the world around their heads. Check out the latest from ABGOHARD and Slater, Rich Yung Pimp, available for stream/download below.
[Video] Vic Mensa, Bun B, A$AP Rocky Freestyle on MTV's Rapfix Live
If you haven't heard yet, Chicago's own Vic Mensa is killing the game lately. Having dropped his first solo project in three years, hit the road with J. Cole and Wale and spit a verse on BET, I'd say it's been a good year so far for the 19-year-old Save Money member. Never one to slow down, Mensa, hungry as ever, showed up to MTV's Rapfix eager to prove that his verse on BET's The Backroom was no fluke. What preceded was absolutely ridiculous as ever, with Mensa spitting bars for days to the point Sway literally had to stop him to go to commercial. Vic's got bars, folks and both Bun B and A$AP Rocky, two of rap's heavyweights seemed endlessly impressed. Please, do not sleep on Save Money, they just keep upping the bar. Watch the full video below.

[Video] World's Fair: "Sammy Sosa"
World's Fair has had a big 2013 thus far, garnering co-signs from Peter Rosenburg and what seems like all of New York, the hip-hop collective is part of the growing New York hip hop renaissance we keep hearing about and today released the video for the track "Sammy Sosa" directed by Jay Sprogell, which finds them wandering Chinatown. Pick up the latest from World's Fair, Bastard of the Party here, and check out the video below.

[Video] B.I.C.: "That's Right"
Bronx collective, Bitches Is Crazy, made sure to not disappoint their fans with their latest visual and went all out with a really cool and zany concept referencing The Beatles. Directed by IV & Yesus 199 of B.I.C., "That's Right" finds the four members dressed up as the classic band while causing mayhem in the streets of New York and potentially experimenting on several drugs. You can find this track on the group's latest album Influence, available to download here.
