This summer, Brisk is partnering with Noisey, VICE’s music channel, to bring the Brisk Bodega, a live music party experience to 6 cities across the US. Just this past weekend, Brisk Bodega Chicago featured Dj Mustard, Do Or Die, Tree, and Dj Moondawg at Double Door, and the night was a hit. The venue was comfortably crowded, full with good vibes, and non-stop dancing or head bopping from start to finish. The complimentary Brisk cocktails made it even better.

In case you haven't heard of all the artists featured, you will definitely hear their names more in the near future. Headlining all Brisk Bodega shows is DJ Mustard, an LA native, who is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after producers in the music business. Some of the most recent songs he has produced include chart-topping hits like 2 Chainz ("I'm Different"), Young Jeezy ("R.I.P.") and Tyga ("Rack City"). Complex has also taken note, naming him  one of their "25 New Producers To Watch Out For", sequentially, he signed with Roc Nation late last year. Mustard ended the night at Double Door, playing all his smash hits to date, and leaving everyone wanting more.

Amongst Chicago's exclusive featured artists for Brisk Bodega were Do Or Die, the west side rap trio, consisting of group members Belo Zero, N.A.R.D. and AK-47. The trio has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide, topping charts in the 1990's and the 2000's, and are set to release a new album by the end of the year. Performing tracks like "Po Pimp", "Playa Like Me and You", and "Do You", kept the crowd reminiscent and proud of their distinct home town sound.

One of the newer faces to perform that evening was Tree, a producer, rapper stemming from the city's notorious Cabrini Green projects. He brought to the stage Chris Crack and the New Deal Crew, partners in the Soul Trap movement, and kept the vibe live and energetic for the whole set. All members involved are rising to be major trendsetters for the Chicago Hip-Hop scene.

Lastly, we can't forget to mention Dj Moondawg, one of the country’s premier DJs, responsible for discovering, breaking, and supporting Chicago artists Chief Keef (Interscope), Lil Durk & Lil Reese (Def Jam), King Louie (Epic), and YP (Universal) on his radio show with WGCI. He kicked off the night's pulsing energy with non-stop bangers, and proved to be a key player to night's success.

I was able to get exclusive full media/ stage access, and got to experience each performer's great energy from beginning to end. Check out some of our favorite shots below and be sure to check out more here. Brisk Bodega is headed to hit New York City on July 18th. [Video] The Black Lips: "Boys in the Wood" (NSFW)

The Black Lips today released their latest video viz Vice/Noisey, and it's one you'll probably remember for awhile. The group, which last graced listeners with an album on 2011's Arabia Mountain, commissioned fellow Atlantans The ATL Twins and Matt Swinsky to direct this hell-raising romp through the forest that includes everything from fire dancing and sponge bath in a coffin to "murder and face-pissing". It's a hell of a way to climb back into the public eye after a elongated time away and the song isn't half bad either.  "Boys in the Wood" is the first single off The Black Lips' forthcoming studio project, Underneath The Rainbow, due out March 18 on Vice Records, with pre-orders now available on iTunes. The band also announced a Spring tour, for which the dates can be found below.

Save Money

[Video] SAVEMONEY: "Still Alive"(Feat.) Joey Purp & Kami de Chukwu

SaveMoney is very much still alive as members Kami De Chukwu & Joey Purp go bar-for-bar across the heavy-handed beat produced by Thelonious Martin and Stix to prove just that. The video was originally slated for a 2013 release, around the time the song hit, which was canceled after the production was shut down due to a robbery during the the time of the shooting. With schedules hard to line up with members on tour and in the studio, the SaveMoney squad re-assembled at my house on Thanksgiving Day to shoot the video alongside a celebration that was sandwiched between a pair of Chance The Rapper's sold out Riviera shows. SaveMoney made the video to prove they're "Still Alive", which Vic Mensa took to a new level by tattooing it across his abdomen. Check out the full video below, alongside the trailer for the upcoming SaveMoney episode of the 8-part Noisey "Chiraq" documentary, due out soon.

[Video] Major Lazer: "Sweat" (feat. Laidback Luke & Ms. Dynamite)

It seems as if Major Lazer are aiming to shoot videos for all their songs on Free The Universe, their latest full-length release. "Sweat," the boisterous collaboration with producer Laidback Luke & rapper Ms. Dynamite, is the newest visual treatment they've put together and they did so with help from Noisey. The clip was shot in a dark-room filled with neon lights and people dancing, check it out below.

[Album] Saves The Day: "Saves The Day"

Legendary punk-pop rockers Saves The Day  performed an amazing set this past weekend at Riot Fest, where thousands of fans were lucky enough to hear the deliciously catchy tune "Ring Pop." The infectious diddy is track 10 off of Saves The Day's latest record, which debuted today via Equal Vision Records/Rory Records.

The band was able to create the self-titled album thanks to fan donations to the PledgeMusic campaign they launched last Thanksgiving. More than 1,450 pledgers helped the band exceed their goal and record the album. Even cooler: Saves The Day donated a portion of the donations to Occupy Sandy to assist with recovery efforts after the devastating storm.

Check out the lyric video for "Ring Pop," below (yes, that's Chris Conley's actual handwriting) and listen to the new record streaming now on Noisey. And don't forget to check back with Ruby Hornet next week for my exclusive interview with the band, discussing Riot Fest, the new album, and more.
