Artist Channels a-ha's "Take On Me" for Photography and Illustration Collection
a-ha's 1985 video for "Take One Me" opened the door for serious music video production by not only crafting a compelling narrative, but introducing some revolutionary (at the time) technology by combining live-action with illustration via rotoscoping (which itself was used decades later in Richard Linklater's Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly). Many artists have used the combination of real life and illustration in numerous ways over the past near-30 years, especially seen in films like Space Jam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
French artist Sebastien del Grosso has utilized the combination of photography and digital illustration to create his latest series, "L'esquisse d'une vie," which translates into "The Sketch of Life." We've seen some amazing Photoshop-based art collections lately, such as Martin De Pasquale's series we shared a few weeks ago, but there's something extra special about del Grosso's series thanks to his illustrations.
You can check out some of my favorite pieces from "L'esquisse d'une vie" below, but be sure to check out del Grosso's Behance page for the full collection, including a step-by-step process on how he put them all together.

Emily Ratajkowski Covers GQ's July 2014 Issue
It's officially summer, so it's only natural that Emily Ratajkowski graces the cover of GQ yet again. Ever since EmRata appeared in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, her stock has steadily soared, perhaps even matching fellow model Kate Upton's popularity. With a role in David Fincher's upcoming Gone Girl this October, it's only a matter of time before Ratajkowski becomes an international sex icon... if she wasn't already considered one. Considering EmRata's popularity on Ruby Hornet in the past, it's only fitting that we spotlight her latest spread in GQ with these photos shot by Michael Thompson. Honestly, what makes a summer photo spread possess more of a "summer" vibe than a girl in a bikini covered in dirt and mud?
Check out GQ's latest photos and a behind the scenes video with EmRata below.

Migrants Photograph Their Journey Across the Border
Photos by MigraZoom Participants
Although border patrol has tightened over the past decade, there are still many people who cross from the Mexican border illegally every year, and it's not an easy task. After years of documenting migration in Mexico, Spanish-born photographer Encarni Pindado, began a new project that allowed undocumented migrants to photograph their journey across the southern border of Mexico and Guatemala, a point where many regroup as they continue North to the US.
Of course, this project would prove far more difficult and unsafe if done on the US border, but still, it's a similar look into the journey. The project, titled "MigraZoom," launched in early 2013 and was supported by a grant from the United Nations Development Program. In collaboration with other Mexico-based photographers, 200 Kodak cameras were handed out to actual migrants, a quick photo workshop was taught, and they were instructed to move up the usual migrant path, following the railroad lines, to gather more cameras along the way. By the end, MigraZoom collected almost 70 percent of the cameras that were given out, and in turn, each participant was given prints to keep. Also, large printouts of the photographs taken were displayed in parts of southern Mexico where Central American migrants travel through. Some photographs were even displayed on the cargo trains that migrants typically boarded.
The few photos below were taken by migrants throughout their own journey, and were sought out for further observation from Pindado. The names of the photographers are left out to protect their identity. It's noted by MigraZoom that many have likely crossed the US-Mexico border without documentation.

[Through My Lens] Shooting with Phoenix
Photos by Bobby Reys
Last week, I shared some photos from a location I scouted out for a possible photo shoot, and this week I wanted to share the results of some recent shots I took with Phoenix. I knew when I first found the place that Phoenix would be the one I would want to shoot there because of her style and attitude that comes across so well in photos. The day was cold and rainy, but that did not stop us from venturing out to see what the both of us could create. The location really gave us a good backdrop to work with, along with Phoenix's choice of outfits that made for a fun shoot. You can check out some of the photos I took of Phoenix here. Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer Shows Us Her Killer Queen Side
Game of Thrones Season 4 kicks off this Sunday on HBO, and like many die hard fans, I can't wait. One of my favorite characters (second to the Queen of Dragons of course) of the books and series is Margaery Tyrell, who is played by English actress Natalie Dormer. This season will feature a lot more of Margaery, who will become the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and marry the most hated character on TV, Joffrey Baratheon.
Natalie graces this month's GQ magazine in a very sexy punk way, shaving the side of her head for her role as Cressida in the final Hunger Games films. Photographer Will Davidson puts his lens to Natalie's milky skin and piercing eyes, giving us a sexy attitude-filled spread. Check out the photos and video on how to date the future Queen of Westeros below.

[Photography] Interview Magazines "Model Issue" [NSFW]
For their September issue Interview Magazine could not decide on who to have grace their cover, so they decided to use seven models for alternate covers. The magazine enlisted the help of some of the industry's most recognized faces and legendary models, including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Amber Valetta, Daria Werbowy and Stephanie Seymour. Since it is a supermodel issue, the magazine is stacked with images of some big names in the industry like Miranda Kerr and new up and comers. Check out some photos of supermodel royalty below, and for more, visit Interview Magazine here.
