Photographer Clara Balzary's Interview With Frank 151 [NSFW]

Photos by Clara Balzary

Frank 151 recently caught up with photographer Clara Balzary for an interview touching on topics about her start in photography, her style, not being credited for her work, and the connection to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Clara has shot campaigns for companies like Vans, Opening Ceremony, Urban Outfitters, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band's lead singer, Anthony Keidis, is Clara's godfather whom she credits for getting her started in photography when she received her first camera from him in elementary school.

Since she has been traveling her whole life, she has developed her own style, conjuring up feelings of living life as a free spirit. The interview also brings up the topic of the time she took photos of Kate Moss in which she was never given the proper credit for them. Check out some of her photos and head on over to Frank 151 for the rest of the interview.

Pete Nice: An MC's Photo Album Circa 1986-1991

In the mid-'80's and early '90s, the rap world was a fun time because of the potential the music had, and if you were alive in the early days you have seen the evolution to what it has become today. For a person like myself, the once up and comers in the game have gone on to become legends and have heavily influenced the artists we listen to now. During that time frame, you were getting a glimpse of the impact rap music would have on the world and how it would stamp its mark on popular culture.

For those of you that weren't alive to see this evolution and for those that want to take a trip down memory lane, I thought I'd share some photos from Peter Nash AKA Prime Minister Pete Nice of the group 3rd Bass. The photos are a collection of random photos from his rap career when he was hanging with Gilbert Gottfried on video sets with the likes of LL Cool J, Eazy E, Run DMC, and a host of others. It's a cool collection of photos that takes you back to the early days and is filled with many of Prime Minister Pete Nice's memories.

Everybody is on their phone.  Thousands of people everyday wear out their thumbs scrolling through photos, deciding which ones to post on Instagram. It’s so easy to do whether you’re a photographer or not; just point, shoot, choose a filter and post whatever you created. From  funny duck face selfies, to breathtaking landscapes, to gritty city streets. Some use it as visual journal giving glimpses of their lives, while others have taken it to another level by creating works of art. All of us at Ruby Hornet are fans of the social media platform and decided to do a weekly series  highlighting people whose Instagrams stand above the rest. Let us know in the comments section if you’d like to be featured, or let us know about some other cool Instagrams. Be sure to follow Ruby Hornet Instagram, too.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @luckymaria. I really dig this gallery because of the composition of the various landscape shots that Maria captures. When you take a look at the way each image is framed, you really get a sense of what she sees through her iPhone lens as if you were there. Sure, you'll get some great landscape shots, but you'll see her put some cool twists to them as she shows off her creativity. This account is definitely worth checking out, so take a look at a few of her photos and make sure you hit the follow button for some awesome imagery.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @theuntitled. What I like about this gallery is the composition of all the photos and its subject matter. This Instagrammer captures images that might seem ordinary to some, yet taken in different ways where each picture tells a story. You'll see an array of images, each with its own story and mood, which makes this account definitely worth checking out. This week’s featured Instagram comes from @victoriafletcher7. What draws me to this Instagram gallery are the awesome landscapes that are on the display. Whether it's shots of the beaches overlooking the ocean or the great views from the mountaintops, Victoria's Instagram is a nice break from all the city shots I see. If you want to see some pretty sweet outdoor shots, I suggest you check out a few of her photos and make sure to hit the follow button.

For example, there are the food photographers of the world that combine two of my passions: food and photography that create awesome images. This gallery is filled with photos of food, travel, and daily life seen through Alice's lens. Check out a few of her photos and make sure you click the follow button for some great photos.
