Rockie Fresh: "Kush Do" (feat. Wiz Khalifa)

Rockie Fresh just released a new song as an ode to the rapper's favorite illicit substance and of course he had Wiz Khalifa hop on with a guest feature. "Kush Do" features lots of hi-hats and hard hitting snares provided by LPeezy and Cam while the two emcees compare their chicks to Mary Jane in the best way possible. Premiered by The Fader.

[Video] Rockie Fresh: "Life Long" (feat. Rick Ross and Nipsey Hussle)

The video for Rockie Fresh's latest single, "Life Long," is finally out. Featuring Maybach Music master Rick Ross and MMG associate Nipsey Hussle, the song is about their individual aspirations to living their lives. It's been a big year for Rockie since Electric Highway dropped in January, with his latest mixtape, The Birthday Tape, dropping a few weeks ago. It's good to see a local artist come up and reach for the stars. Here's hoping the rest of 2013 treats Rockie well.

Check out the video for "Life Long" below.

The Best of Chicago '09

 The Best of Chicago 2009

Lupe Fiasco once said, "Really love my city, and I hope that G-D bless it."  And bless he did, uh, musically at least.  While Chicago got dissed from the Olympic Committee, saw their parking meters jacked, and all around sports failures, at least the arts and culture scene put forth something to be proud of.  To celebrate the year that was in music, fashion, and culture, we put together a survey to highlight the best of Chicago 2009.  We invited a wide variety of our friends, colleagues, and associates to tell us their favorite artists, release, DJs, clubs, clothing brands etc from '09.  A Sample of our respondents include Naledge, Willy Joy, Million $ Mano, Suli, Anna Hovet, Krabby of Saint Alfred's, Brian Nevado, Matt Boy White, Scheme, Michael Kolar, and many many more, so, if you don't like the list send them the hate mail hahaha.. Enjoy!

RH First Look: Rockie Fresh

Rockie

He's too hipster. He's just trendy. I just don't like his music. Say what you will about the kid, and all those previous statements have been, but Rockie Fresh has definitely created a buzz for himself. His point was proven December 15th when he released his debut mixtape, Rockie's Modern Life, which recorded over 1,000 downloads in just one day. Not too bad for a cat who just started rhyming in 2006.

"All of these new age rappers are changing the direction of the genre and creating something for our generation to call our own," said Rockie on the new generation of artists to hit the Hip Hop. RH correspondent, Ashydakid, caught up with Rockie Fresh for a full interview, digging into his family background, the new generation he identifies with, and the importance of versatility. Check it put right below and see why another thing people are saying is, "that kid's got talent."

Rockie Fresh x DJ RTC: Rockie's Modern Life Mixtape

Rockie's Modern Life

I'm very happy to post this Rockie's Modern Life, the debut mixtape from Chicago's Rockie Fresh. Obviously, I've had the mixtape for a while since I did mix it and obviously I think it's dope for the same reasons... But, I also think it's dope because of the quality music produced by Rockie and his team. The mixtape is a solid 14 tracks, and I tried to do as little as possible to take the focus away from Rockie's voice. It's great when you get to work with a young artist who has a good team and good head on his shoulders, and Rockie fits both categories. Enough talk from me, see the track list below.
