[Songs of the Day] 2/11/14 (Feat. Wiz Khalifa, Klaxons, The Black Lips and more)
Tuesday got a healthy dose of new music, and we have all of it gathered here for you once again for our 'songs of the day'. Starting things off is the honky-tonk sounds of Denny & The Jets with "Mexican Coke" and Klaxons with their heavy-handed dream pop arrangement in "Children of the Sun". Vic Mensa capitalized on a successful tour with Disclosure by releasing a freestyle over the UK duo's track "When A Fire Starts to Burn" off their album, Settle, and fellow Chicagoans Roman Flowrs and Donnie Trumpet teamed up over a Cam Osteen-produced beat in the soulful "Lake Shore Drive" and theWHOevers round out the middle of the map, offering up a J Dilla tribute in "Sooner or Later". Lil Boosie teases his post-prison plans, getting together with Boston George and Future on "Rich Off Lean" while Mr. Carmack gives listeners a new groove in his instrumental, "Free Baby" and Kelis returns with a new song in "Rumble". Yumi Zouma's “A Long Walk Home For Parted Lovers” gets a remix from Wild Nothings, Harry Fraud remixes JOYWAVE's "Tongues" and we get new tracks from The Black Lips, Beverly, Wiz Khalifa and a talented newcomer in Barney Bones. Check it all out, streaming below.

[Video] The Black Lips: "Boys in the Wood" (NSFW)
The Black Lips today released their latest video viz Vice/Noisey, and it's one you'll probably remember for awhile. The group, which last graced listeners with an album on 2011's Arabia Mountain, commissioned fellow Atlantans The ATL Twins and Matt Swinsky to direct this hell-raising romp through the forest that includes everything from fire dancing and sponge bath in a coffin to "murder and face-pissing". It's a hell of a way to climb back into the public eye after a elongated time away and the song isn't half bad either. "Boys in the Wood" is the first single off The Black Lips' forthcoming studio project, Underneath The Rainbow, due out March 18 on Vice Records, with pre-orders now available on iTunes. The band also announced a Spring tour, for which the dates can be found below.
[Video] The Black Lips: "New Direction"
The Black Lips turned in one of the best rock albums of 2011 thus far with their latest, Arabia Mountain. Today they a new video for "New Direction" off said LP. The video is directed Jake Burghart and features the band soaring through space, playing in the middle of a tornado, and flying over mountains. Pretty dope.

The Black Lips: Damn...They Did What?
Atlanta's Black Lips have been dubbed the hardest working band by The New York Times, as well as completely kicked out of India for their raucous live show. In a rock n' roll band's hierarchy of achievements, I'm not sure which ranks higher. The self-described flower-punk band has readied its new LP on Vice Records, and 200 Million Thousand hit record stores, online retailers and the like on February 24th. We caught up with the Black Lips to talk about the new LP, how it stands measures up to Kanye West's swagger of 100 thousand trillion, as well as their now infamous trip to the land of Slumdog Millionaire. Check out the full interview below.
