What would you do if all crime and illegal activity was made legal for 12 hours once every year? In last year’s The Purge, this concept was explored by writer/director James DeMonaco. While it didn’t do favorably well with critics, it was a box office success, almost making 30 times its budget. With the film’s sequel, The Purge: Anarchy, it’s going to be more of the same. As shown in this first teaser trailer, a young couple’s car breaks down on their way home right when The Purge is announced. The film then follows their attempts to make it home safely while avoiding all of the degenerates, murderers, thieves, and bad guys.

Whether or not the film’s any good, the franchise has already built a cult following, with my former self taking part in #CrimeDay tweets last year, illustrating all of the crimes I would commit if the country really had a Purge.  The Purge: Anarchy will be attacking theaters on June 20th.
