During a phone interview with Funk Master Flex, Lil’ Wayne was asked which artists he would like to work with upon being released from jail later this fall. Wayne named Tech N9ne as one of his most sought after collaborations, and since then Tech’s seen his mainstream visibility shoot up. For Hip Hop heads, Tech N9ne is not a new name at all, and the legendary (yes, legendary) underground rapper is definitely no new jack. His independent success rivals that of West Coast artists such as E-40, and the early No Limit days of Master P. Perhaps Wayne sees some of the Cash Money spirit in Tech N9ne’s hustle, and he must see some of himself in Tech’s originality.
