Re-Up

With summer coming to a rather unfortunate end and the first day of school looming in the very near future, thoughts of having to trade in your beach bag for a backpack or actually be awake when the suns out might have begun to cross your mind. But before you freak out and totally lose your cool, keep in mind you still got the whole weekend left to rage the night away and probably not remember it in the morning.  So kick back and enjoy, while you still can, and check out this weeks Re-Up.

Tanya Morgan

This week at RH we’re bringing you yet another awesome contest. As I’m sure you all already saw in the RH Events section, Tanya Morgan will be coming through Chicago next week on their Brooklynati tour. Considered as one of Hip Hop’s leading up and coming groups, this 3 dude crew with a girl’s name should definitely not be missed. We have two tickets to giveaway to the show, which will also be broadcast live on Lumeefly.com. To win the tickets, just send us an email (Rubyhornet@gmail.com) with “Tanya Morgan” in the subject line, and tell us the name of each emcee in the group. The contest started yesterday but the winners won’t be picked or announced until Monday. Good luck, and check out the full post here.

Perfect Attendance

Also going down next, RH will be heading to the 5 Spot in Atlanta for full media coverage of Perfect Attendance. Hosted by SMKA and The Come Up Kids, this showcase will not only feature a performance from Chicago’s own Mikkey Halsted, but offer one emerging artist a really dope PR campaign, complete with correspondence services, photo shoot, video treatment and more. Click here for more info the event, and be sure to check out the Perfect Attendance mixtape.

On the flipside, we still rock those fresh new interviews…

Jet Audio

*RH First Look: Jet Audio
“If we didn’t take risks, music would never evolve”, says producer Jet Audio, who recently released his own compilation, The Stand Alone Complex.  Sensing something new and original in his production, we sent Ashydakid to talk to Jet about his own risks and rewards, the meaning behind the title, as well as his own background and history.  Check out the full RH First here.

DJ Spinna

*DJ Spinna: Who’s Underground?
DJ Spinna recently released his new LP, Sonic Smash, a “100% real Hip Hop album from beginning to end,” according to the world traveling DJ/producer.  “100% percent real Hip Hop” often brings up connotations of backpacks, incense, and other imagery associated with underground Hip Hop, but as Spinna says, “my work has and still allows me to travel the world as a DJ. I’m sure there are many major artists that haven’t been to Australia, South Africa, Asia, Dubai, and Europe etc so who’s more underground in the global sense?” Check out the full interview here

Dimes and Dozens
