Fantastic. That’s the word that first came to mind after seeing The Roots new video for “Dear God 2.0”. I’ve loved the song since I first heard it, and Jason Goldwatch turns in a video does the song tremendous justice. Putting Black Thought behind the wheel of a New York City cab, the video adds life to his conversation with God and gives it extra meaning through the wide range of patrons that seem to share a sense of struggle, while the specifics differ. The video is left open-ended as Thought is robbed at gun point after a long night of work, being forced to make his own choices.
