Eminem

I haven’t been posting too much over the last few days, trying to make something of a break out of the week between Xmas and NYE.  That explains why I was somewhat deep in a marathon of “The First 48”, and check-ins on the Eagles vs. Vikings game when this song hit the web last night.  I thought about switching gears to post, but decided not to.  I could tell via mobile twitter updates that it was out, pretty much everyone and their mom had posted it, and the majority of people in my timeline were not impressed.  I decided to keep my laptop off, and finally gave the track a listen this morning.  From what I read on Twitter last night, I didn’t expect much from more from the song beyond tired and uninspired raps, Eminem in a weird voice, and some random line featuring 50 Cent rapping in gibberish because we’re not listening anyway.  I was pleasantly surprised by the song’s concept, and the verses.  I think Eminem outshines everyone in this unreleased track, leftover from possibly a few years ago.  I read somewhere that it is from the Kingdom Come days, and that makes sense as bulls**t music and same beat different lyrics/rappers was all the craze.  You want a “Lean Back”?  You want a “Laffy Taffy”, oh, how the noise pollution (and really bad fashion) were all the rage in rap music…

This song is really a breathe of fresh air, and if you don’t like it, that’s even better.  It’s a hot beat, a front-cover best seller.  It got everyone’s interested in mere hours, and any underwhelming feelings are exactly what all artists involved predicted.  It doesn’t really matter because in a few days this little break will be over and it will be onto the next thing, just as all those G.O.O.D. Friday joints take up a little less space in our memory banks and hard drives since MBDTF was released.

Let’s take this for it’s worth: a song that features some of the biggest artists in Hip Hop music, production from Dr. Dre, and hey, it didn’t cost you a penny.  Download it below.
