Toro Y Moi

One of my favorite new acts of 2009 was Toro Y Moi.  His LP, Causers of This, introduced us to a new brand of indie-pop, heavy on the mellow and the low-fi.  Toro wowed a lot of critics as well as the public, who championed the musician and put at the forefront of this burgeoning sub-genre.  The difference between Toro and a lot of “buzz” and critic friendly new artists in “burgeoning sub-genres” is that Toro Y Moi is really dope.  He is back with his sophomore album, Underneath The Pine, which is set to be released February 22nd via Carpark records.  Yesterday he sent out the first track from the LP, “Still Sound”, which is funkier than most records found on his debut album.  It is a definite signs of things to come, as his new LP will contain more live instrumentation than his freshmen effort.  You can listen to the new track below, as well as view the full tracklist.
