The latest trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is here, giving the Turtles a much needed spotlight to show off their new look, as well as a more contextual look at the film’s narrative. The newest footage features what’s implied to be the Turtles’ first meeting with April O’Neil (Megan Fox), a closer look at Shredder, first footage of Will Arnett’s character, Vernon Fenwick, a glimpse at Whoopi Goldberg’s appearance, and more! There’s even a tongue-in-cheek quip about the early origin rumors that had the turtles be aliens and not mutants.

Those worried about the film being too “Michael Bay-esque” will still find the same tone throughout the film. However, I’m more supportive of it now that some action scenes have been shared. The story might be a bit heavy handed (including a twist that implies William Fichtner’s Eric Sachs might not actually be The Shredder!), but as long as it’s buoyed by strong set pieces and action, it’ll all be good.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be in theaters on August 8th. You can check out the latest character posters below.
