David O. Russell is organizing a reunion of sorts for his next film, American Hustle. Christian Bale and Amy Adams (The Fighter), Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (Silver Lining Playbook), and new Russell collaborator Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) star in the 70s period piece revolving around the ABSCAM FBI sting investigating a far-reaching public corruption case that involved both mobsters and politicians. American Hustle is kind of like a Dream Team of talent from the main cast and David O. Russell, but also with support from the severely underrated Michael Pena (End of Watch), Louis C.K., Robert De Niro, and more. Bale plays a con artist that links up with an FBI agent (Cooper) who forces him to help topple the entire underground corruption scandal.
American Hustle is scheduled for release on Christmas; winter can’t come soon enough.
