A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I began writing for an independently-owned film site, Flixist, that introduced me to the inner-workings of the film industry and community. At this year’s SXSW, one of the films I covered for Flixist was Coldwater, Vincent Grashaw’s (Bellflower) directorial debut. The film is a thriller detailing a teenager’s time at a reform/boot camp that is maliciously run by a power-hungry ex-Marine Colonel. It left a lasting impression on me, easily becoming my favorite film of the festival.

Since it’s worldwide premiere at SXSW, it’s screened at multiple film festivals, attaining a multitude of nominations and awards for Best Feature, Best Director, etc. While the film doesn’t have a domestic distribution date yet, a new trailer and promotional posters were released recently to show just how thrilling Coldwater is. A personal milestone of mine was made when I found out the trailer and primary theatrical poster featured a quote from my review. In due time, Ruby Hornet will have that same level of recognition in the film community; for now, you can check out the posters below and the Coldwater trailer on Vimeo (due to privacy settings not allowing site embeds).
