Here’s a film I didn’t predict becoming enthralled over. Horns is Alexandre Aja’s (The Hills Have Eyes) next horror film starring Daniel Radcliffe as the primary suspect in the rape and murder of his girlfriend (Juno Temple). As the media begins to focus on his role in her death, he sets out on his own investigation to find the true murderer. However, during the course of his search, he inexplicably sprouts horns from his forehead that not only give off a devilish appearance, but also grant him supernatural powers that manifest the worst out of people around him.

Mixed with the horror film tone of the film are elements of dark comedies and religious dogma (naturally). I don’t see Horns becoming a widespread blowout film, but it’s definitely made to appease B-movie and cult film fanatics. It’s also great to see Radcliffe further spread his wings, with his role in Horns representing a new element in his varied career post-Harry Potter.

Horns will be in theaters and on VOD in time for Halloween.
