Machete Kills didn’t do very well at the box office, making a very weak $13m worldwide on a $20m budget. Then again, a Mexploitation film like Machete Kills was never really intended to make a ton of money at the box office. In fact, I predict it’ll find new life when it’s released on home media. Nevertheless, what originally started as a fake trailer as part of director Robert Rodriguez’s and Quentin Tarantino’s dual-feature, Grindhouse, served as the backbone for the Machete franchise (if you can call it that two films in).

In keeping in line with the fake trailer theme, Machete Kills came attached with one, Machete Kills Again… IN SPACE! Now, that trailer is available online for your viewing pleasure. It follows the typical Machete structure of Danny Trejo being a total badass and killing everybody in sight, except in space, complete with Michelle Rodriguez in a jetpack, phasers, and a Justin Bieber bot. The trailer even ends with Trejo carrying a Star Wars-esque light machete.

There’s a 99.9% possibility that Machete Kills Again… IN SPACE! won’t be made, but that .1% chance that it could come to fruition is all I need to hold on to the hope of watching Machete massacre a plethora of robots and aliens. Make it happen, Rodriguez!
