The Hangover was a surprisingly funny film. I have a tendency to carry a high bar when it comes to comedy films, and while it didn’t quite meet it, it still warranted a few laughs. However, I haven’t had a chance to catch The Hangover Part II, but from what I’ve heard from fellow film critics, it was more of the same. To complete a full trilogy, director Todd Phillips and the ensemble cast of Bradley Cooper, Ken Jeong, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, and Ed Helms return for the final installment.

Joined by newcomer John Goodman, The Hangover Part III finds the Wolfpack searching for Mr. Chow after Goodman’s character kidnaps Doug as collateral for money Chow stole from him. With the stage set, The Hangover Part III seems to have moved past the “hangover” gimmick; will that prove to be enough to change the formula? We can all find out when it hits theaters on May 23rd.
