[Video] ABBY: “Monsters”

Berlin band ABBY teamed up with animator Pooya Abbasian to create a music video for “Monsters” off of their most recent album, Friends and Enemies. “Monsters” is about the narrator seeing the monsters in his life. The video takes this theme literally, creating a fictional world where a girl literally sees the physical manifestations of her paranoia and nightmares pervade her reality. The black and white music video is visually similar to the stop-motion studio Laika (CoralineParaNorman) with the smooth movements of the video’s characters and long, slender figures reminiscent of Coraline, specifically. I’m a sucker for short films, music videos that might as well be short films, and animation – this “Monsters” video fit all three perfectly.

If you’re digging ABBY, you can listen to more of their stuff on Soundcloud and/or purchase Friends and Enemies on iTunes.
