Chip Tha Ripper

“When you was our age, wasn’t no iTunes or E-bay, only things old heads know is old bread, new money on the mic…”

Chip Tha Ripper will release his debut album, Gift Raps on March 1st. The album is entirely produced by Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids, and has gone through a few release changes in route to this free release with illRoots and Karmaloop.  For the project’s first video, Chip turned to “Light Up”, a mellow groove heavy joint that allows listeners to eavesdrop on conversations during a smoke session.  Here Chip pontificates on success and traveling, while later in the song turning his attention to the sometimes rocky road it has taken him to get here.  It includes a rather pointed jab at complaining elders, contained in the line quoted at the top of the post.  The video was directed by Ken Koller and produced by Mike Waxx.  Check it out below.
