This upcoming Tuesday Elzhi will drop his long awaited album ELmatic, his first release since the break up of Slum Villiage. The album is a nod to Nas’s first album Illmatic and so far every track released has done the originator justice. Now we have the first visual treatment off of the album for “Halftime”. The Gerard Victor directed video does a very good job of highlighting the live performance and focuses the viewer on the music by utilizing a simple concept and great cinematography. The track sees the original beat updated a bit and was recorded using live instrumentation. This feature helps give the song a funky vibe that melds smoothly with the song’s signature horns.
