Drake

Drake has been doing his thing on a European tour, and maybe there’s something in the water, but talks are high about collaborations on his forthcoming set, Take Care.  His debut album, as well as his So Far Gone mixtape impressed listeners and critics with it’s range and genre-bending ability.  It makes perfect sense that some non-Hip Hoppers would be amongst the first making the news of potential collaborators.  Reports state that Drake is looking to Jamie Smith of the xx for some production on the new LP, and Smith also spoke about working with Drake saying, “He’s a fan of the xx and my remixes and stuff, and I sent him some beats. We’re just going to do some stuff for the next album.”

Another future collaborator comes in the form of Florence from Florence and The Machine.  Drake brought her out during a tour stop in London to duet on his song “Fireworks”, and is looking forward to hitting the studio.  He told The BBC, “Last night, we went to dinner at the Wolseley, and we were all very loud and obnoxious in there. We were all just wasted. It was this weird hippie joyous occasion [in the studio]. But on any other evening, me and Florence can get in the studio and do something incredible, and we will. We listened to all her new music, and I picked which song I really want to get on.”
