J. Period’s team told me about this project last week, and I was immediately interested. J. Period connected with K’Naan to pay tribute to three musical icons: Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan. J. Period brought his production/remix mastery to creatively merge K’Naan’s music with those of the aforementioned artists. They held a release party on the over the weekend in Toronto, and are releasing this new EP over the next 5 weeks in 5 parts, and kicked it off yesterday with the first 3-song pack which featured one Fela Kuti remix, one Bob Marley remix, and one Bob Dylan remix. The EP, and all future parts, is accompanied by exclusive artwork by Fuse. Listen to and download the first 3 songs below.
*Sidenote, when I was in college I purchased a slew of Bob Dylan vinyl, and always wanted to sample “Lay Lady Lay”. J. Period beat me to the punch…dammit!
