Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco released a new single from this forthcoming LP, L.A.S.E.R.S. The song, “All Black Everything”, is a track that Lupe has deemed one of his all time favorites, and for good reason.  It is simply brilliant, and follows other rich narratives that have come to be signatures of Lupe Fiasco’s catalog (“Little Weapon”, “The Cool”, “The Instrumental”).  “All Black Everything” is a hypothetical in which Lupe presents listeners with the invitation to imagine there was no slave trade, and no racial barriers.  It is a dream, as Lupe admits in the song’s third verse, before questioning again, why it has to be so.  While he is battling a serious historical past, Lupe weaves contextual rhymes, traveling through the last 400 years imagining such things as Martin Luther King reading the eulogy of Malcolm X and a black Eminem inspiring a white 50 Cent.  You can listen to the song below, as well as see our in-depth interview with Lupe: At War With Lasers.  Lupe Fiasco’s third studio album will be released March 8th via Atlantic Records.
