Ben Affleck Directing and Starring in Solo Batman Film Written by Geoff Johns
Following this week's release of new photos of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes news that Ben Affleck will not only don the cape and cowl following 2016's Dawn of Justice and 2017's Justice League, but he'll also direct a solo Batman film co-written by legendary DC Comics writer and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.
Johns has had his hand in shaping DC Comics' latest TV series, Arrow and The Flash, as well as having written for Smallville, co-produced and was a creative consultant for Green Lantern, is executive producing Dawn of Justice, and has written many, many DC titles over the years.
Considering the project is years away with two other films serving as buffers in the interim, there are no details on the script. Affleck's next project, a film adaptation of the novel Live By Night by Dennis Lehane, was greenlit by Warner Bros. just this week. However, considering the viability of a solo Batman film, there may be potential for Warner Bros. to switch the two film productions around.
We'll have more information on this rumored solo Batman film when more comes!

[Trailer] Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
[youtube id="IwfUnkBfdZ4"]
After all of the wait, speculation, leaks, and rumors, we finally have the first official glimpse at Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In typical Snyder fashion, the footage is tonally dark with the narrative voiceover questioning Superman's intentions. Juxtaposed against the Superman clips is Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne looking at his Batman costume with Alfred telling him, "That's how it starts: the fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel."
The trailer doesn't capture what makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe feel so full and interconnected. Granted, this is Warner Bros. and DC's first real attempt (Green Lantern notwithstanding) at creating a unified universe, but it just feels like a Superman film with Batman in it, or vice versa. There's also the question of Batman's status quo in this film and whether or not that will confuse casual fans who may not realize the Batman in Dawn of Justice isn't the same Batman in the The Dark Knight Trilogy.
It will be interesting to see if Snyder will be able to balance enough screen time for not only Batman and Superman, but also the debuting Wonder Woman in the film. Just based on the trailer alone, the film feels too cramped as is, but WB and DC have the highest respect and faith in Snyder... for better or worse.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters in 2016.
[Video] Jimmy Kimmel Responds to Kanye
So this has to be one of the more memorable rap beefs I've come across. Kanye West, because no one can make fun of Kanye West, decided to go on a Twitter rant against Jimmy Kimmel after Kimmel spoofed an interview 'Ye did with BBC's Zane Lowe. In the spoof video, a kid simply plays Kanye and repeats the same things he did. In any event, West isn't happy. Like, Pusha T listening party agravated. Regardless, it looks like the hiatus we had since the last weird Kanye meltdown is coming to an end. For his part, Kimmel does a great job at actually addressing all of the Tweets in real time last night on his show. "I saw the video"
Why the Ben Affleck/Batman announcement isn't a bad one
The internet collectively erupted when it was announced last night that Ben Affleck would portray Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman. Reaction to the news was mixed, and with good reason. Those who were happy with the news cited Affleck's overall career, especially the past decade and his success behind the camera. Detractors, however, pointed at box office bombs like Daredevil, Jersey Girl, and Gigli. While both sides are certainly entitled to their own opinions and reactions, I wanted to throw in my two cents not only in regards to Affleck's direct role as Batman, but what his casting could potentially represent for the future of the DC Films franchise.
