MED, Blu, D?M-FunK: "Peroxide" (Prod. Madlib)

A couple weeks ago I posted the star-studded first single off the Madlib-produced upcoming project, The Buzz, bearing the same name as the release. Today, the squad of Madlib, Blu, MED and D?M-FunK get together for the B-side to The Buzz (Available on vinyl, here.), titled "Peroxide", originally due out tomorrow. The release marks the first time all of these artists have been featured together on vinyl and buying the throwback medium will get you a bonus beat, as well as several a capella tracks and instrumentals. Check the second half of the project, "Peroxide" here below.

MED, Blu, Mayer Hawthorne & Madlib: "The Buzz"

This super funky collaboration is, in fact, real. MED got together with the soulful trio of Blu, Madlib and Detroit's own Mayer Hawthorne to craft "The Buzz". With a beat perfectly suited for everyone involved as Hawthorne lays the hooks between which Blu, MED  and Madlib do their thing. The track will make even the greyest of Fall days seems a bit more hopeful. Check out the track below and keep an eye out for the single dropping November 26 with D?M-FunK‘s “Peroxide” on the B-side. Pick up "The Buzz" via Stones Throw.

Blu: “Summertime” (feat. Arima Ederra)

I'm going to go ahead and admit I'm not the biggest Blu fan in the world, but I have to admit that this “Summertime” anthem is one hell of a song, especially because Arima Ederra is featured on it as well. That Bombay-produced instrumental really gives you that BBQ's and hot weather feeling, even though Chicago hasn't really done that yet.

[Video] Blu: Amnesia (2012 Edition)

Here's a new take on Blu's "Amnesia", off his 2011 release, the Amnesia EP.  The director of this video is Chimp, who also did the short and sweet video for Blu's "On The Porch".  Watch the new clip below, dedicated to Capital STEEZ.

[Closed Sessions] Blu: "Comfy In The Truck" (prod by DJ Babu)

Our Closed Session with Blu took place in February of 2011.  Blu was at work on his major label debut, NoYork!.  After building a substantial underground following, releasing an undeniable underground classic, and doing whatever he wanted musically, Blu was making his first entrance into the mainstream.  That seemed to be on his mind throughout his short visit to Chicago, where he performed at Digital Freshness and hit SoundScape Studio for a Closed Session. During our time with Blu, we had many talks about how the underground and the mainstream were merging, as well as the how the music was pulling him in different directions, one that may or may not upset his core fan base.

Those topics and more are explored in the new Closed Session documentary, and the last single from Closed Sessions Vol. 2.  Hit the next page to see the documentary presented by MTV2 Sucker Free, and thank you to everyone that has been supporting the album.  We're just getting warm.

Blu and Exile's new album, Bring Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them is in-stores now. Check out the last leak, "The Great Escape" right here.
