[RH Photos] C2E2 2014 Cosplay

There's something about comic book conventions that have always held a special place in my heart. Whether you're a fan of comics, toys, anime, films, video games, or just people in general, comic book conventions will have something for you. Cosplaying itself is its own entity, with some costumes that are sometimes better than "official" costumes to rag tag, last minute clothes hastily put together. At this year's Chicago Comic and Electronic Expo (C2E2), some creative and well thought out costumes were on display. You can find a short, short selection of photos from this year's convention below. Photos were taken by yours truly and my dear friend Sal Hernandez.

Everybody is on their phone. Thousands of people everyday wear out their thumbs scrolling through photos, deciding which ones to post on Instagram. It’s so easy to do whether you’re a photographer or not; just point, shoot, choose a filter and post whatever you created. From funny duck face selfies, to breathtaking landscapes, to gritty city streets. Some use it as visual journal giving glimpses of their lives, while others have taken it to another level by creating works of art. All of us at Ruby Hornet are fans of the social media platform and decided to do a weekly series highlighting people whose Instagrams stand above the rest. Let us know in the comments section if you’d like to be featured, or let us know about some other cool Instagrams. Be sure to follow Ruby Hornet Instagram, too.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @ilitchpeters. This photographer and designer really gives you a look at NY capturing some great images of the city. The compositions of his photos make this gallery pop out but it's the slow shutter photos that are really cool to me. When you go through his gallery it's hard not to want to go out and create your own slow shutter shots. So be sure to check out some of his photos here and head on over to his Instagram for more great shots.

Racial Profiling Book: The New Global Mexican by Marina Garcia-Vasquez

Photos by Carlos Alvarez Montero

Statistically, Mexican Americans make up 10.9% of the United States' population with over 34 million documented Americans, making the US home to the second largest Mexican community in the world, second only to Mexico itself.  With all this in mind, Mex and the City and photographer Carlos Alvarez Montero came together to curate a portrait series titled Racial Profiling. The series highlights prominent, influential Mexicans alongside Q&As to highlight their professional successes in New York, Mexico City, and Los Angeles.

What started out mainly as a project within NYC turned into a Kickstarter to grow support to fund their pursuit to publish a book. Titled Racial Profiling Book: The New Global Mexican, it will show the diversity of the global contemporary Mexican identity from NYC, LA, Mexico City, and London. This project will only be funded if at least $15,000 is pledged by

Grand Theft Auto V From A Combat Photographer's Perspective

Images by cy_sperling

When it comes to the topic of video game violence, a majority of it is directed towards the Grand Theft Auto series. When you mention Grand Theft Auto, there are certain images that pop up in your mind, and one Redditor has taken it upon himself to document what he sees as a digital combat photographer. Redditor cy_sperling wanders the streets of Los Santos in passive mode to document all of the action and chaos within the game. His character sports a getup that consists of a black Media jacket and helmet, oftentimes driving a WEZL News van to pull up to a scene.
It's a pretty interesting idea and use of the platform, so check out a few of the photos that have unfolded on the streets of Los Santos.

Watch Capcom's Street Fighter 25th anniversary documentary, I Am Street Fighter

Street Fighter has inundated pop culture at various times through its 25 years of existence, resulting in Saturday morning cartoon shows, anime adaptations, two Hollywood film adaptations, music samples and references, and over a dozen over sequels and spin-offs. Modern fighting games, or even the fighting game genre itself, wouldn't be in existence without Street Fighter II's influence. After all, a franchise wouldn't be able to both exist and succeed without doing something right, right?

To commemorate the franchise's 25th anniversary, Capcom has released a documentary, I Am Street Fighter, that tracks not only the history of the franchise, but also its effect on fans, including avid collectors, musicians, cosplayers, and professional gamers. While the documentary is mostly focused on Street Fighter II's legacy, the documentary did touch upon how popular the series has been over the years. I personally would have liked to see more of the auxiliary stuff, like the aforementioned films and cartoon series, but keeping a tight focus helped the documentary's overall scope.

Fans of Street Fighter should definitely set aside a good 75 minutes to watch I Am Street Fighter.

Latest gameplay trailer for FIFA 14

A new gameplay trailer for FIFA 14 was released recently. Narrated by Captain Picard himself, Patrick Stewart, the new trailer showcases some of the next-gen graphics and a new engine for the popular EA Sports football (soccer) game. We all know that the sport itself isn't exactly popular here in the States, but it's the game all across the world, especially in Europe. Microsoft understands this, and have recently announced that every European Xbox One pre-order will come with a free copy of FIFA 14. Also announced during Microsoft's brief Gamescom conference is an Xbox-exclusive FIFA 14 mode, "Ultimate Team Legends," which will allow gamers to create their own custom teams consisting of some of the sport's top players of all time.

FIFA 14 will be released on September 24th in North America with a September 26th release in other regions for those of you who like their sports hands-free.

PlayStation 4 will be released on November 15 in North America, PS3 + PS Vita prices dropped to $199

At Sony's Gamescom press conference earlier, they officially announced the PlayStation 4's release date is set for November 15 in North America. This should come as good news for gamers who pre-ordered their PS4s immediately after Sony's E3 conference in which they set the console's price for $399. While an official release date for the next generation gaming console is well and good, Sony also had a few more tricks up their sleeves.

Their current console, the PS3, has received a price drop to $199 in North America for its 12GB model. Of course, storage is expandable if you invest in an external hard drive. The company's portable gaming system, the PS Vita, has also had its price dropped to $199 for both of its 3G/WiFi and WiFi-only variants. As you may remember, the PS Vita is being touted for its compatibility with the upcoming PS4, so it's a no-brainer that Sony would announce a price cut for the system.

With both a price and date set, will you be purchasing a PlayStation 4?
