Danny Brown: "Side A (Old)"

Talk about something having a long lead time. It seems like we've been hearing about Old, Danny Brown's debut release on Fool's Gold, forever. After threatening to leak the album in response to its apparent shelving or a dispute over the release date, a stream of the album came available late Monday. Check out the stream here below and stay posted for the full release coming soon.

Danny Brown the Detroit rapper known for his signature voice, crazy hair, and toothless smile has a style all his own. His style whether on the mic, the way he dresses or simply by the way he carry himself has lead to GQ to sit down with him for a candid interview. The video I admit it is funny and informative as well, covering topics from romance to fashion to table manners so check out Danny break down his rules of rebel style. [RH Photos] North Coast Festival 2013 Day 3

Photos By: Bobby Reys

Making it through the entirety of any festival is a workout at the least and a survival game for some, but by the end of my three-day adventure across Union Park I was in need of a pick me up. After taking in the tail end of an inspired performance and North Coast debut for local artist Psalm One, I found just that around two o'clock as the funky vibes of fellow Chicagoans whysowhite took the Coast stage for what may have been the best performance of the day had they not been competing with Wu Tang , Cherub and Gary Clark Jr.

Leading twins Charles and Davis Haines kept the crowd moving in the neon pants while Nick McMillan MC'd and danced his way into oblivion, sending the steadily-building crowd dancing well after the set ended in the early September heat. Next, it was off to Danny Brown, who performed on a similarly-placed stage to where Lil B performed a month earlier at Pitchfork Festival. It was a similar experience with the sea of fans bopping up and down to the squeaky vibe of Brown's vocals. It was Danny Brown as you would expect him although without his pants down onstage.

From there, a bit too worn on the EDM tip I took in Rebelution, who's jammy, soulful rock tunes were the perfect break from the scattering computers sounds of the DJs that dominated Day 2. Gary Clark Jr, festival king himself, picked up where Rebelution left off, keeping the easy, cool sounds coming, eventually handing the baton to Cherub whose falsetto 80's-inspired electro-pop kept listeners moving and criss-crossing their library.

All in all, though, the festival ended as it began. As headliners Wu Tang Clan and Lotus took the stage, drops of rain could be felt and a general groan could be felt across the park. Wu Tang ran through the classics with Cappadonna, U-God and RZA setting the pace for the rest of the present members while Lotus' Miller brothers gave the Last Stand Stage crowd all they could in a limited set. They played the hits, and got off the stage-twenty minutes early. I'm suggesting bubbles over music festivals in Chicago moving forward.

[Video] Danny Brown: "ODB"

Despite some purported friction with Fool's Gold earlier this month, the promotional push for Danny Brown's next album, Old, is in full force. Earlier this week, Danny made an appearance on Sway in the Morning in both freestyle and interview capacities. Now, the video for "ODB" off of Old has been released. The chorus-less song features the Detroit rapper rapping straight into the camera. However, the fun comes in post-production where he's lit up in bright, neon colors while his face is stretched and morphed. It's been two years since XXX was released, but based off of "ODB," it appears that the wait for Old will be worth it.

Old will be in stores on September 30th, but you can catch him on tour through September and October, including his set at this weekend's North Coast Music Festival. Tour dates are below.

[Video] Danny Brown On Sway In The Morning (Freestyle + Interview)

Danny Brown slide through the Shade 45 offices earlier this week and sat down with Sway for his morning show and discussed a handful of topics, including his album, Big Sean and Detroit's influence in his music. Danny also took time to spit a verse over Prodigy's "Three" record and confirm the release date of his Old album (9/30). Check out the two videos below.

Danny Brown Threatens Fool's Gold

Detroit MC Danny Brown isn't known for discretion and made it known today that he is unhappy with Fool's Gold, who signed Brown in 2011 around the release of his critically-acclaimed XXX. Disgruntled over the time it has taken for the follow-up to XXX, titled Old, to be released Brown took to Twitter to air his displeasure with A-Trak and Fool's Gold. In the tweets, which have since been deleted, Brown alleged Old may be shelved for good and toyed with the idea of leaking the project himself. Following several fan inquiries on the social-networking site, A-Trak cleared things up with a tweet confirming a video for the project that will be released next week. Check out the tweets below.

Tree: "No Faces" (feat. Danny Brown)

There's currently no other project I'm anticipating more than Tree's Sunday School II. Not only are we getting a more polished and inspired Tree, but talented dudes such as Danny Brown and Roc Marciano have put in work for the `tape as well. Plus, it definitely doesn't hurt to have Closed Sessions and Creative Control backing you up. "No Faces" features the Chicago's native marquee sound, a catchy hook and a verse from the always eccentric Danny Brown. Peep below.
