[Contest] Win a Prize Package from The Purge: Anarchy
The Purge: Anarchy is releasing in theaters this weekend. To help prepare you for the colloquially-coined "Crime Day," we've included five animated GIFs (found below) that share some insight behind The Purge: Anarchy. It's not all just fun shenanigans, as some of the quotes elaborate on the film's social commentary on violence and society's reaction to it. In case you're unfamiliar with The Purge, the film is titled after an annual event, the titular "The Purge," in which all crime is legalized for 12 hours. Obviously, the chaos of The Purge creates an unsafe environment for those not interested in committing crimes, especially in the presence of those that are.
In commemoration of The Purge: Anarchy's release, we are also offering a prize package featuring a The Purge: Anarchy T-shirt (L) and flashlight to keep you safe in the dark of night. One winner will be randomly selected on July 25th at 11:59pm CST. To enter, follow us on Twitter, then tag a tweet with #RHCrimeDay telling us what you would do if The Purge was real. The most creative entry will win the package. Good luck!
Each household is only eligible to win One (1) Purge Prize Pack via blog reviews and giveaways. Only one entrant per mailing address per giveaway. If you have won the same prize on another blog, you will not be eligible to win it again. Winner is subject to eligibility verification.

"If you're not purging, we advise you to get off the streets as quickly as possible."
Oh man! Following up the teaser trailer released on February, the first official trailer for The Purge: Anarchy ups the ante and better shapes the story swirling around the chaos and, well, anarchy. Joining the stranded couple from the aforementioned teaser trailer, another main character has entered the fold. This unnamed man is implied to look out for revenge over his son's death from a past purge. But really, what's narrative context when it can get in the way of carnage? The coup de grace of the trailer comes at the end when a charity event is held for the sale of unfortunate bystanders caught during the purge. What types of shenanigans will those people find themselves in?!
The Purge: Anarchy will be wreaking havoc on theaters on July 18th.

What would you do if all crime and illegal activity was made legal for 12 hours once every year? In last year's The Purge, this concept was explored by writer/director James DeMonaco. While it didn't do favorably well with critics, it was a box office success, almost making 30 times its budget. With the film's sequel, The Purge: Anarchy, it's going to be more of the same. As shown in this first teaser trailer, a young couple's car breaks down on their way home right when The Purge is announced. The film then follows their attempts to make it home safely while avoiding all of the degenerates, murderers, thieves, and bad guys.
Whether or not the film's any good, the franchise has already built a cult following, with my former self taking part in #CrimeDay tweets last year, illustrating all of the crimes I would commit if the country really had a Purge. The Purge: Anarchy will be attacking theaters on June 20th.
