Have you ever wondered who would mourn over you after you died? Especially with the rise of social media, it’s so easy to see how many people will miss you, whether it’s in the form of wall posts or likes, since everything would be collected all in one place as a means of curating an online memorial of your life. However, how absolutely shitty would it be if nobody ever really cared?

In the dark comedy Friended to Death, Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars) stars as Michael Harris, a social media junkie who may or may not have many actual friends. To determine who actually cares about him after losing both his job and best friend, he fakes his death online  to see who actually cares. As the announcement of his “passing” gains attention, he milks the spotlight by having an ex-coworker hold a memorial service. However, the truth over who would actually go the extra mile may backfire all in his face.

The satirical dark comedy is directed by Sarah Smick and co-written by Smick and Ian Michael and will be in theaters on May 2nd and VOD on May 9th.
