Last week, current Chicago/former St. Paul rapper Jordan Looney dropped a video for his song, “Over.” With Jordan’s raps over a remixed version of Dubstep artist Mt. Eden’s “Sierra Leone,” the video is akin to Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World film adaptation with its mixture of live-action and video game-inspired effects. It’s also notable for being directed by Niteskool, a group affiliated with Northwestern University that has been functioning for the past 20+ years. “Over” is off of Looney’s latest project, Nerd Hop vol. 3, which you can download directly here.

Looney’s a part of RoofLife, which also features Chris Cooley, RIO, Chris Crack, Young General, The Dutchmaster, DJ Elliven, Danimal tha Choppa, Everest, and Second City Citizens members Rich Jones, Troy Boy, and Swords the Ronin, so if you weren’t familiar with him (or the rest of the RoofLifers) before, you will be pretty soon. His next project, Dedication Over Distance, is dropping at the end of the month, so keep your ears and eyes open for it.
