On the cover of this month’s Vogue India are five darker-skinned models taking a stand against color discrimination. The cover entitled, The Dawn of Dusk, was created to promote awareness and serve as an agent for change in this dated battle.  In India, like many places in the world, a lighter skin tone is considered more desirable and people go to extreme measures to reach this “ideal” complexion. This cover’s message is a great way to reach millions of people and start changing what societies value as beautiful. Hopefully, this will discourage kids from buying dangerous skin-whitening products and teach them to love themselves no matter how dark or light their complexion is.
