Drinks On RTC Tonight At Vision

Just a reminder to everyone in the Chicago area, that I will be djing tonight at Vision for a special open bar 10-11:30PM. The idea of the night is to go into a downtown club, bring our music and flavor, while our friends can have some drinks without reaching into their pockets. This is the second edition, and will be a lot of fun. It's a cool chance to do something different, and get a good start to a Friday night. Free entry and drinks with mention of me and the site.

Ok, one last B.o.B. post for the week... Dude is killing it right now... This is "Not Lost", which co-stars T.I. and according to NR, will not appear on the LP due to sampling issues. Another dope track with a message. Dude's debut album drops next week.

Phosphorescent: "It's Hard To Be Humble (When You're From Alabama)"
"Hear me Alabama, I was never meant to carry no shame."
I was drawn to Phosphorescent's music from the titles of his songs i.e.: "It's Hard To Be Humble (When You're Alabama)" and "Reasons To Quit (There Are No Reasons When You're High)" off the folk-rocker's equally cleverly titled LP, Here's To Taking It Easy. Sonically, "Alabama" reminds me a little bit of Jimmy Buffet, while lyrically artists such as Paul Simon come to mind, those that have a way of just talking to you through the record. Check it out below via RCRDLBL.

B.o.B.: "The Kids" featuring Janelle Monae"
The Offspring told us the kids were not alright. The Who asked older folks to fade away, and for his effort B.o.B. enlists Janelle Monae to let us now that kids are running wild and nobody cares. The song follows up a tremendously strong amount of B.o.B. material to hit the web the week leading up to the release of his debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray. After hearing what I've been hearing, I feel it's safe to say that B.o.B.'s release will be one of the best of the year. It's an album that reminds me of Kid Cudi's debut in which B.o.B. really takes the listener to his realm, and thus creating a full listening experience rather than a collection of songs. Check out "The Kids" featuring Janelle Monae below.

Slakah The Beat Child: "Enjoy Yaself V2" featuring Drake Video
This showed up in my inbox yesterday along with a pretty detailed press released. Pressed for time, what really stuck out was "featuring Drake". Those PR people really know how to grab to. Given more free time I was able to actually sit back and watch the video, and it's pretty fresh. Drake's rhyme is on point and Slakah's subject matter, harmonies etc provide a breezy nostalgic vibe. See it below.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti: "Round and Round

I was on Hypem looking at tracks and actually clicked on a different song to listen to. I zoned out for a little while reading a pretty good article on Scott Storch, and "woke up" so to speak to the rhythms of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's "Round and Round". I knew I had to have it post haste, and thus it's on the RH pages. I hope we've turned you on to a new group as well. Take a listen below.
